Cine online: Odd Bird (2019)

Clark (Michael Varde) va a la casa de su infancia, adonde lo esperan su madre, June (Betsy Moore), y su padrastro, Gunner (Jacob Peacock). Ha decidido contarles su mayor secreto, pero está aterrado porque ellos son un par de campiranos rudos y toscos, y no sabe cómo lo tomarán. Su novio, Tommy (Brennan Murray), cuya voz es la única que aparece en escena, le anima durante el viaje mientras proyectan su futuro: Clark es el autor de un manuscrito, una historieta titulada "Odd Bird", que espera ser editada.

Narrada con buen ritmo y una amenidad inesperada por su directora y guionista Katy Dore, esta premiada obra (ganó dos premios en losIndependent Shorts Awards) subvierte expectativas y da una vuelta de tuerca a la serie de proyectos que tratan el tema de la salidad del armario de una persona gay.

Super OddBird?

Friends of mine own a pizza place and have a few arcade machines in there. Years ago I built a tabletop “arcade” and haven't done anything with it...

I figured I’d donate it to them... But I couldn’t just let them have any normal game! I waned to give them something special! Before the pizza place they started their bar OddBird so I wanted to make a video game for that. After pulling my hair out trying to program a game from scratch I decided to just take Super Mario World and make the characters look like a sketch I had done for them:

I Have most of the Small Mario sprites done. In Super OddBird you start as a little chick!

Ideally Mario and Luigi will look something like this. (These were from the custom game before I kiboshed that)

Remaking the Logo was a bit nutty...

...Hopefully I’ll finish this sooner than later. In the meantime if you’re in the area defiantly check out their establishments. 

PS: If you bring your own eggs and ask for a “Low Key Triggered” you’ll receive one of the best eggs benedict I’ve ever tasted... But that’s a secret... So good I had to sketch it.

PS2: I almost forgot... I also painted one of their washrooms with this neat animal theme!

Our first bachelor is Fern. He seemed to integrate really nicely with the ladies. He established dominance, and his alpha hen Fussy has already spent time with the flock (she keeps escaping from the hen yard at night to roost with the roosters, then demanding to be out back with the hens during the day. #oddbird ) so he was quickly accepted without any confrontation. If I'm honest, this is the rooster I am most partial to. I'm hoping once he's had a chance to roost with the flock a few nights, I can let them free range and allow the other roosters to mingle, but we'll see. I may have to pen up the other roos in a bachelor pad until we get more hens. For now, there is peace in the hen yard. Welcome to a restaurant that’s in the middle of nowhere. Literally.

Nowhere, a restaurant located on a nature reserve near Stockholm, Sweden, is really bringing social distancing and al fresco dining to a whole new level.

The new dining experience was created by Oddbird, a Swedish winery that makes non-alcoholic wine (or, as they put it “wine liberated from alcohol”). The restaurant consists of six tables that are scattered around the reserve, so there’s no risk of coming into contact with other guests.
