Btw — Riot Fest is gentrifying Chicago

As a Chicagoan Latine fan of MCR, I just want y’all to know that Riotfest is actively contributing to gentrification of Latine neighborhoods in Chicago.

This past Riotfest there was a decent amount of protest and anti Riotfest graffiti.

(Also this is a later addition but it needs to be added: the neighborhood that used to host Riotfest, Humboldt Park, was another majority Latine neighborhood that was gentrified by large corporations. Now they’re in Douglas Park, another majority Latine neighborhood fighting gentrification.)

I have never attended and never plan to.

I can only hope that was a wake up call to the bands that often participate and they stop doing that.

I know it’s unlikely but I do have just a glimmer of hope that MCR will not be partaking again.
