Digimon fans have Digimail.... Tamagotchi fans have Tamamail... I have never heard the small smattering of Gigapet fans that I know refer to their mail hauls, but I assume Gigamail works, even if it sounds like some kinda OP JRPG armor...

What do Oddpet fans have? Dinky Mail?

Anyway... I got a haul today. I tested to see if they worked before celebrating, and yes, they all work just fine. I got these for a huge bargain at 8 bucks each. Not that they're the most sought after, but I rarely see them for a price I consider reasonable. And they did combined shipping.

Yuki Pengin is cut from the same cloth as Dinky Dino, so I already know I'm gonna love it. I wish I could have gotten a black shell, but I wasn't going to pass on the red one at this price. He's more christmas-y this way.

Gyaoppi and Chuppi are new to me, and obviously related. One is a dinosaur, the other is a bird, possibly a chicken or a parrot, but he looks like a generic bird to me. I may have actually had Gyaoppi as a child, it's very familiar to me, but i'm not 100 percent certain. It was confiscated from me at an early age and I was too worried my parents would be mad to tell them.

I know there's more pets related to Dinky Dino out there but they're not so easy to find and are very poorly categorized and undocumented... and there's also at least one more solo pet related to Gyaoppi and Chuppi I know of, a duck, but the more common shells are ugly, and I want the one that resembles the shells I already have. There's even more but they're multi-pet, and once again, are poorly documented... virtual pet community really should do something about the poor documentation of non bandai virtual pets. If only someone with more willpower and drive than me could do something about it.

Anyway, it may be some time before I run any of these. I am already running 3 pets. I'm always going to run at least one digimon, I'm on a Tamagotchi kick so I'm not putting that away and if I do, i'm replacing it with a Tamagotchi Uni... and I'm not putting away my Floppy Frog until it actually dies. I'm going for a record here. But i'll definitely talk more about them as I run them.

Got in a lot of pets today, most are doubles of things I have already. I noticed that the Japanese Dragon (white with pink buttons) has the same sprite as my Cyber Saurus, but with a different hatching sequence? And yes, the Dragon's screen is stupidly hard to see. Also the pink blob pet has a very clear screen. Almost like it doesn't have a cover. Pretty sure I'm just touching the LCD screen there... Gonna be selling a bunch of these!

Slowly updating my virtual pet collection page, which means Ineed to take new pictures.

So here's all of my non-digimon virtual pets together. I have one or two not pictured, a Tamagotchi original from the 90's that I put back in it's box because I couldn't stand the ghosting, another heart shaped 9-in-1 I'm keeping in back up since I already have one, the ugly yellow cyber baby shell that I have as back up in case the comet critter breaks, and a Gigapets AR Tech-T-Rex that i'm only keeping around for spare parts. They're not important.

I'm going to wait until wave 2 of the Pendulum Colors arrive before taking an updated photo of my Digimon collection.

As you can see, i'm also still working on charms.

I know I have a lot of Tamagotchi originals. I really didn't plan on having more than two but... I sarted with the neon green gen 1 but I hated the shell, got a 90's shell instead, and the white and pink gen 2. But I learned later that later releases had better contrast. So I got some new donor devices to swap the guts.. and then I fell in love with the comic book shells so.... I ended up with several more Originals than I anticipated. I will not be buying any more though. Not unless they make more comic book shells ( Maskutchi and Zatchi shells pleeeease )

Still have not run all of these but i'll get to them all eventually.

Holy hell, I've been trying to remember the name of this very specific odd-pet that my former step-brother lent to me a long time ago that was actually my VERY FIRST exposure to virtual pets. I was like instantly enamored and was heart broken when I had to give it back.

I remember the shell being yellow and kind of round, with UFOs and space stuff on it. And a lot of the sprites were ripped right out of Tamagotchi P1, I actually convinced myself I had just imagined it and it really was just a Tamagotchi, but it had more features and stayed in the baby stage for a lot longer. Today I think I've finally found it! Sorta!

So, like a lot of oddpets, this specific one seems to have gone by several names and come in different shells. The pic I just posted is the closest thing to how I remember it looking, except it was yellow. I with red buttons. I don't remember it being called a Comet Critter at all.... what I do remember is it being called a "CYBER BABY", which does seem to be a variant of this odd-pet. But all the listings how it in a weird, slice-of-bread shaped shell with awful looking buttons... also seems to go by "Cute pet" "cute cute" "Johnny Alien" and "Eggy".

I saw actual footage of the pet in action on an device with a chicken on the shell, and it's exactly how I remembered, with the UFO dropping off the egg. And the training animation involving weight lifting.

Because I'm weird and sentimental, and because I found some cheap listings, I ordered one.. the character on the box is a bit strange, being a cartoon baby and all, but I chalk it up to the boot-leggy nature of it all, and will interpret the design how I choose if I ever draw this one.
