On 3/30/16 at 3:25 p.m. the Oregon Police Department responded to a car versus semi accident at the intersection of Gale and S. 4th Streets, involving a 1994 Ford traveling north on 4th Street driven by Mary Barclay, age 80, of Oregon, and a 1998 Mack semi-truck traveling east on Gale Street driven by Ronald Buttel, age 68, Byron. The crash resulted in the death of Mary Barclay. The investigation showed the vehicle being driven by Mary Barclay failed to stop at the intersection and pulled into the path of a Rodney Rogers Trucking semi, driven by Ronald Buttel, who was not injured in the accident. The Oregon Police Department was assisted at the scene by the Ogle County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, the Oregon Ambulance, and the Oregon Fire Department.
