Of the Devil theory about Qasim London! Spoilers for Episodes 1 and 2 under the cut:
Qasim London is the Huntsman.
I just finished episode 2, and after looking through the tags, I was surprised I couldn't find a post talking about it, so I figured I'd make my own!
Supporting Evidence:
Detective London is an older cop with years of experience under his belt in both Arson and Homicide. He would know how to take care of any victims without leaving any traces behind.
Episode 2, his shot in the court room. The game highlighted not only how accurate he was while being very far away from the shooter, while also being extremely fast, despite the chaos in the moment. Though we know he's experienced, even in game it's seen as unusual and shocking he was able to pull it off.
His character compared to the rest of the reoccuring cast surrounding him. To us so far, Morgan is an uncaught serial killer. Emma is an undefeated prosecutor who, when we first meet her, tells us exactly how a case went by just hearing about it, and has an obsession overlearning about and catching a serial killer. Then there's Reyes, she is a very prominent character, and I think that's for a reason.
I believe Reyes is a character slowly going through character development to no longer be trusting and dedicated to the system.
Aside from being a foil for Morgan to argue with, Reyes is a new detective to the field and is inexperienced. She is loyal to her fellow officers and is naive to how corrupt and murky the waters can be. When she believes in something, she defends it stubbornly. She already regrets getting her eye replaced for her job, though she doesn't admit out loud to have any fault with her job, it's still effecting how she feels towards it in general.
London is not only her partner, but is who she looks up to. Someone she's spending almost every day with, and trusts.
Imagine if she found out he was a killer. Who she thought she knew, who she had trusted with her life on the job, and was her role model- wasn't who she thought he was. Who could she trust? How could she know no one else was using their positions or not caring about who they're serving. Depending on his motive for it all, it could affect how she views everything.
London himself, is just a laid back, experience detective who is seen as acting fairly normal compared to everyone else. We know he's older, but despite him telling telling us about himself, it's usually to explain history that's pertinent to the story in that moment. Not to mention that, he's one of the first characters we ever meet.
If the Huntsman is someone hunting Morgan, and is actually a major antagonist in the overall story, wouldn't it make sense if we already met them? Of the Devil makes countless nods to Umineko, a fantastic mystery game that explains and shows the fundamentals to how a true mystery is meant to be set up. One of the most important rules being, the culprit must be someone met early on in the story.
So far, every episode has followed this rule, and since the Huntsman was never revealed in the chapter it was first brought up in, then this person must stretch across the narrative as a whole.
I'm not sure if this will end up bringing true, but I wanted to put it out there. After seeing the bonus content in episode 2, having him talking on call with his "nephew", he might have something else going on. Also, if they are following the rules of Umineko, another rule was "The detective can't be the culprit", but idk if London and Reyes count, since they aren't investigating the mystery of who the Huntsman is, and therefore aren't 'the' detectives for that case.
