@ofbrokensouls asked shatter for eddie to break a mirror in front of buck out of rage/fear/frustration
everything was boiling up inside of him. that he had let shannon back into his and chris’s hearts only for her to decide to walk away again, that she ended up being one of his calls that he couldn’t save, not to mention chris was hiding his emotions because he could tell how upset eddie was -- it all was too much to handle. when he’d gotten squealed on about the fighting, he knew that it was all taken too far, but the rage continued to build inside him. this time, it had no outlet.
he looked himself in the mirror, trying to see into his being to figure out why he couldn’t man up and move past it. he had done that well in the past, with his parents and military experience, even shannon leaving the first time. the emotions were overtaking it and he hated it just a little less than the idea of actually talking and sorting through his feelings. maybe the mantra was beat into his head by the army, or his father who had it beat into his head through his own service experience.
regardless of the reason, seeing his teary-eyed reflection staring back at him made him feel sick. in a fit of anger, his fist contacted with the mirror, the sound of shattering the glass underneath. his hand throbbed and ached as blood trickled down his knuckles. it wasn’t until he saw buck’s distorted reflection standing behind his that he remembered that he had asked him to come over for pizza night with chris when carla brought him home from a birthday party.
with a sigh, he ran his hand under cool water and patted it dry before reaching into the cabinet to get some gauze to wrap it up. ❝ we aren’t talking about this. end of discussion. ❞ he said firmly.
