“Hey, Josie.“  he doesn’t know how long it has been since he saw her. his mind doesn’t count his dad’s funeral because his mind wasn’t in the right place back then. she sang and it was beautiful but he barely heard half of it. Not sure why she would be back in Riverdale, he is glad to see her and he isn’t shy to push himself forward and offer a hug. 

“Ronnie said you were in New York with Katy.“ Someone he only knew by a casual video call once and from Ronnie’s tales from the big apple. “You made it where you wanted it, right? I’m glad you did.“ Because if someone deserved the spotlight it was Josie. And he knew, that Riverdale was way too small for her.

14.) a sad / crying kiss. 

Reggie struggled with this feeling before. The feeling of being unimportant, the feeling of not mattering. Side piece central and he was smack in the middle of it. Josie was on her way out, so Reggie felt the need to press his lips against her as a means of goodbye. He didn’t realize he was tearing up ( gross! ) until after he pulled away from her and saw his tears left shining on her cheek.

Reggie turned his back to her, fast as he could, and started wiping at his eyes. “Holy fucking shit-“ He cursed. “Allergy season is one son of a bitch, am I right?”

“You’re off beat, y’know.” It’s not so much that he meant to stop and eavesdrop, it was more just... that Jughead couldn’t quite avoid it. “Sounds like you’re at a 9/8 time signature but you have the drum machine going at 12/16. Kinda throws everything off.”

Josie had always been more than a friend. She had been the sister she never had, she had been the only person besides Jason who stuck with her through ups and down. She was the only person who truly knew her and yet never forced her to show the real her to others. She allowed her to keep her mask on for as long as it was needed and Cheryl would always be silently thankful for it. 

Eyes were lost in the carpet of her room, gazing straight at a little stain that had been there for years. Although her friend’s embrace was soothing, her insides still felt shattered, void, and she didn’t know if she would ever feel whole again.
