they'd been on the side of the road for twenty minutes, the rain pouring down heavy on the windows as they tried and failed to get service. grayson had done the gentlemanly thing, walking out into the rain with his coat draped over his head and phone to see if it would help, but it did nothing. by the time he got back into the car, droplets coated his body and made him shiver, his muttering complaints about the cold silenced when he realised where his companion was. "what are you up to, sweetheart?" she looked like temptation, giving him a look that made his heart skip a damn beat. "really? right now?"

             charlotte didn’t really think she’d become this involved with elisabeth. a one night stand turned into two, three, and now it seemed as though elisabeth was finding her way into charlotte’s bed every week. priding herself on never getting attached, charlotte found herself breaking the rules for the older woman who was intriguing and gorgeous and everything charlotte was drawn to. and now it seemed as though she’d be breaking her own rules again by going over to elisabeth’s instead of their usual routine. “you sure this is cool?” she whispers, although she’s not really moving away from elisabeth. the author still holds onto her, arms wrapped around her waist, as they’d be wandering through her home. she’s all too aware that elisabeth has kids, and the last thing charlotte wanted was for them to see her. or them together. she’s shit with kids and she’s not ready to meet them anyways  // @ofdoycnnes

–––– ever since that time back when he attended her comeback performance, they’d been going on and about what this encounter after so many years meant for the both of them. they’ve been meeting up for coffee and similar activities for a few months now and as far as elijah was concerned, he was indeed enjoying his time with lily –he loved listening to everything she’d been up to for at least the last fifteen years. however, as far as rekindling their old relationship, elijah himself had been sort of tiptoeing around it. simply watching where it could lead to while, undoubtedly, being concerned about it deep down.

in an attempt of making the most out of summer, they decided to enjoy a couple of days away in the beach. elijah’s always been a lover of water activities after all (not so much of summer and heat itself though) whereas lily was rather the opposite. “what do you mean you are not joining me for a dip?” he asked her, disbelief painted across his expression as he shook his head, albeit slightly grinning to himself. “am i going to have to drag you to the water? just like i used to do? alright then.” failing to keep the laughter to himself, elijah began to approach lily, tentatively with the intention of carrying her to the water.

               claire knocks lightly on nora’s open door, a few loose leaves of paper in her hand as she steps through the doorway. “hey, uh-- i was in the copier room and you forgot this-- i kinda skimmed it and,” claire murmurs, stepping forward and up to nora’s desk. “this seems like a really interesting file. i hope you don’t mind-- how long have you had this patient?” ( @ofdoycnnes​ !! )

     HE  SPENDS  MOST  OF  HIS  TIME  doubting  his  parenting  abilities.  it’s  not  that  zahid  is  a  bad  father,  far  from  it  really  —  he’s  present,  responsible,  caring,  and  yet  the  struggle  of  being  all  alone  with  a  4  year  old  wears  him  down.  all  alone  might  be  an  exaggeration  though,  because  arif’s  mother  had  had  the  decency  to  stay  for  his  first  few  months  (  though  that  was  probably  due  to  fatigue  more  than  anything  else  ),  and  a  year  after  zahid’s  new  girlfriend  had  stepped  into  the  picture.  losing  her  had  been  way  harder  than  losing  arif’s  mom,  maybe  especially  for  arif  himself.

     so  hard,  in  fact,  that  the  kid  had  cried  for  days  on  end  until  zahid  had  begged  his  ex  to  come  back  —  for  the  sake  of  the  boy,  of  course.  still,  zahid  finds  some  solace  in  not  being  alone,  and  her  frequent  visits  have  made  days  —  and  nights  —   considerably  easier.

     «  i  apologize  for  demanding  your  presence  like  this,  »  he  says  bashfully,  cleaning  off  the  table  after  dinner,  arif  sound  asleep  in  his  bed.  «  he  barely  sleeps  when  you’re  away,  »  which,  naturally,  has  been  quite  a  lot  lately,  the  way  it  should  be  between  exes.
