17. "Fetch me another glass of wine"
He was settled in a corner of the bar and sighed. It had been a long day and he eyed the darkness, wondering who might become his target to feed on later. Waving a hand without really looking away from the crowd, he just ordered that of who he assumed was a worker. "Fetch me more wine." He said, almost boredly.
He sat up on the roof, the last cigarette to the pack he had opened only the day before clutched in his teeth. But he didn't care. Didn't care how the edge of the concrete cut into his legs, didn't care how the smoke slowly curled around his lungs, didn't care about the tears that slowly made tracks down his face. They tap, tapped onto the roof but still his face remained carefully passive. Reserved.
Masked.
It was funny, how quickly one could get accustomed to being unmasked. To being open...But he was sure he could get used to having one again. To having his guard up, to burying the emotions that choked him, that drew bile up from his stomach and burned his throat. He'd put on the mask, and maybe then he could start doing things right again.
