Hey! :D i was wondering why you thought tos spirk was awful? like i can totally see why you dislike/ are just not into aos spirk (i'm more for aos mckirk but only if we don't go by only how the movie characterizes the characters lol) but I was just curious why you feel tos spirk is awful as well (really just curious) Hope you have a great day!

I actually have no problem with TOS!Spirk and even ship it a little bit. It’s not like, OMG OTP type ship for me, but I do think their relationship in TOS was fantastically well developed and thoroughly enjoyed their dynamic 

It’s AOS!Sprik that I find gross, annoying, and boring as hell. Like I don’t really ship anything in AOS except my crackship that is Chulu. I like McKirk (though they side line McCoy a fuckton in favor of Spirk even tho McCoy is Spock’s friend too in TOS but w/e!) a bit and I don’t mind Spuhura though the movies in general treat the female characters fucking awful (I’m still bitter they hijacked Uhura’s moment in Into Darkness because GUNS SHOT OUTS are more important than watching her work her amazing linguistic skills also she didn’t get a “moment” like the others did in ST). 

I think what annoys me is that Spirk as far as the AOS movies go is just so thoroughly underdeveloped and not at all interesting to me but the movies keep shoving it at us without any sort of subtly whatsoever. It’s also a relationship that’s super stereotypically masculine coded like omg the amount of AGGRESSIVE MASCULINITY that exists in the new Star Trek movies is APPALLING. I could damn near choke on it. 

Like Kirk in TOS wasn’t the perfect character, and he had hooked up with a number of women, but he wasn’t outwardly disrespectful towards them. AOS!Kirk is a frat boy. Like that’s it. There’s no other layers to him that a frat space cowboy he’s the most basic of all male power fantasies and it ruins his character for me. Because the movies aren’t focused on things like exploration, philosophy, or politics, but rather explosions, big battles, and half naked women, Kirk as the leading character reflects that shift in attitude. 

He’s got no thought for consequences, he’s openly reckless at the cost of other people, he’s belligerent, rude, sexist, faces no consequences for his own choices or reckless behavior, and the narrative repeatedly awards him for it. It’s so damn frustrating but I LOATHE AOS!Kirk I really do. He’s boring, he’s dull, he’s an awful person. And b/c JJ Abrams and co are so afraid of genuine human emotion all the movies emotional scenes must be followed by some battle of some kind. 

Like to incite an emotional response from Spock the narrative 1. HAD to kill his mother, and 2. make him literally RAGE MONSTER all over Kirk because breaking down a crying wouldn’t have worked because ew that’s like girly emotion

Same with their big hand glass scene in Into Darkness which was a total undeserved rip off the same scene in WoK. They didn’t deserve that fucking scene and I’ll hold to that forever. I still have troubling seeing why these two men like each other that’s not connected to ~destiny~ and obligation. They don’t TALK to each other, unless they’re bickering and no I don’t find unbalanced aggressive bickering between characters cute I just don’t. It doesn’t make them “omg ~married” when old married couples bicker it’s because they’ve been through shit together, they have had years together, it’s laced with affection because of their shared experiences. You can’t say the same for pairings like AOS!Spirk 

So I didn’t get why Spock was just SO SAD his friend Kirk was dying because they barely had any scenes in between talking with whitewashed Cucumber Khan that held any sort of emotional weight at all. Also his ~single manly tear~ was following by one of the most ridiculous MAN SCREAMS ever where he ran down Khan to beat his ass because, once again, if it’s too emotional than it’s not manly enough so we must follow all emotion with MANLY AGGRESSION

I forgot a ship I actually do ship in AOS other than Chulu and if this gets me hate lol fuck it but TOS!Spock/AOS!Kirk because they’re scenes together were the only ones that weren’t followed by in your face AXE levels of dudebro aggression. Like Nimoy was brilliant in bringing light back to the AOS franchise and providing some much needed softness to the series. So yeah I liked his dynamic with AOS!Kirk waaaaaaaaaaay more than with AOS!Spock because AOS!Spock doesn’t even seem to like Kirk let along have much interest in him as a person. They don’t help each other grow or develop in any interesting ways. They’re thrown together because JJ Abrams and co wanted fan nostalgia that’s it

This isn’t even covering the amount of gross snaps the AOS!Spirk fans does on the regular like side lining Uhura hardcore and hating on her and Carol like the movies do that enough get out of here with that jesus

So to sum up, TOS!Spirk is cool I can chill with that ship, but AOS!Spirk is awful I hate it 0/10 would not recommend

Am I the only one who thinks it’s a huge cop out that Bucky just remembers EVERYTHING and they find him within I’m guessing the first 15/20 mins of the movie? 

After everything that was set up in Cap2? But lol who gives a fuck about continuity anymore right? I mean suddenly after AoU Tony wants to talk about accountability? He sure as hell didn’t give a fuck about the Twins when they called him out on being a weapons profitter, sure as hell didn’t care when he created Vision even after Ultron, sure as hell didn’t care at the end of the movie or suffer ANY consequences

and fucking no, Tony’s ~guilt~ that I’m sure he’ll have in Civil War is not a consequence, at least not a good enough one for me. I want the government to drag his and Bruce’s asses for creating a GENOCIDAL ROBOT and then deciding to help create another! Who’s strong enough to kill the first one! WTF??? I don’t give one damn about Tony’s guilt we’ve been through Tony’s guilt issues I’m done with them time to pay up bro I hope the reason he’s on the governments side is because they want to put him in prison for what he did and he’s only corporating  

And where the hell is Nick Fury during all this? Perfect time to MENTION THAT SHIELD FELL AND BRING IN NICK FURY he was the one who brought all these superhero babies together after all how is he NOT considered important here?

The ending of Cap2 with all the build up of finding Bucky, seeing him recover and regain his memories, seeing Cap and Sam work together, seeing Natasha find her own path, it all feels so pointless now. Because Nat never found her own path, all her secrets that were expose we have no clue how they affected her. We never got to see how the fall of SHIELD really affected Nick (dude gave his LIFE to that institution), I wouldn’t be surprised if we only get a handful of scenes with Steve and Sam together, and since Bucky remembers everything and they’ve already found him that plotline is totally over

I just want a live action version of Batman that isn’t the equivalent of stale toasted white bread so plain and tasteless my mouth burns from being force fed it

I can not STAND that Nolan’verse has become the biggest mainstream baseline for Batman because BaleBats sucked and WAS NOT BATMAN or maybe a Batman that is everything boring and dull about the character from the mind of a man who admittedly disliked the comics and loathed Robin (fuck you very much Nolan and Bale). 

Like I want a Bruce that cares about Gotham? I never felt like BaleBats cared about Gotham. He was just an anger man who used his toys to fuck shit up in the name of “cleaning up his city” but like with no care for the actual people that lived there. There was never any human connection between BaleBats and the people of Gotham. It was all white masculine aggression fighting against typically disenfranchised/mentally ill villains with not even a single mention of the existence of Arkham. And like, Arkham isn’t perfect, but it’s existence is important to the overall fabric of how Batman wishes to operate in his city. 

Like Bruce freaking loves his city, and he wants to protect the people within it. There’s a reason he takes in damn near every orphan he finds on the street with legally or just under his wing in general. Like without that human connection the Batfamily creates between Bruce and Gotham Batman is super fucking boring. 

So yeah, him running into a crowd of dust and holding a little girl is really freaking awesome. Like that one scene created more of a human connection between Bruce and people than all the Nolan films which were so obsessed with MEN AND MANGST they couldn’t even acknowledge Gordon’s LEGIT child Babs freaking Gordon and instead he had a son because lol girls are only good for love interests and manpain

yes, I absolutely think that a big age difference reeks of power imbalance, even between lesbians, even between ‘consenting adults’. if one of them is in her twenties and the other in her forties there’s no way she’s not stealing her partner’s youth. you live in two different generations, in two different stages of your lives, in two different mindsets. I’m 30 years old and you know what I see when I look at someone who’s 20? a person who hasn’t lived through the same past decade, a person who I will respect enough to let her grow in her own pace. if she’s a lesbian there’s also the aspect of coming out, growing in the community, maybe even outgrowing the community. all those experiences that you can only make in your twenties, not before, not after. I wouldn’t want to take that from anybody but I also wouldn’t want to live through it again. it’s my past and it’s someone else’s future.

at the very least we should ask ourselves why being accepted as a lesbian always also comes with an obligation to accept other things society has deemed a taboo.

I’m a lesbian and I’m very much judgmental, thank you. romantic love is not a spiritual journey in search of your ~soulmate~. sexual attraction does not exist in a vacuum and it’s also not about the beauty of one’s mind, sorry sapiosexual mogai queers.

this is all a bit of a rambling. I just really think people are abstracting relationships the same way they abstract gender and sexual attraction. I try to treat people with respect but that doesn’t mean I shut my eyes to systemic problems. Actually, if I have an ounce of respect for other people at all I will keep asking where our motivations for specific relations come from.

I don’t usually judge women’s looks but G*nnifer G*odwin looks like she’s aged about three hundred years and I like to pretend that it’s punishment for being a lesbophobic piece of shit.

All this spite could be prevented if only homophobia and lesbophobia would actually be punished appropriately. Instead this kind of schadenfreude over superficial crap is all I get.
