I haven’t played in 4 days and this is what I come back to. Oddly enough, it takes a lot more than this to upset me. (Btw I was Lux)
Betamarg sare jaat! (بتمرگ سر جات)
It means ‘sit the fuck down!’
Atho there’s no vulgar word in the phrase, it is an extremely rude thing to say to anyone. Very aggressive too. There’s the word ‘marg’ (مرگ) in it which means ‘death’. Maybe the closest literal translation is ‘drop dead in your place’. In Persian, a lot of aggressive phrases have something to do with death, not fuck.
Also, showing your anger in Persian is not as convenient as in English where you just throw a fuck in the mix. Every expression has its own unique wording.
For example, ‘where the fuck have you been?’ could be translated to ‘kodoum gouri boudi?’ (کدوم گوری بودی؟) which literally means ‘which grave(yard) have you been to?’ Again, there’s the concept of death.
As annoying as they are, I agree with some of those prank YouTubers because yeah, you need to be comfortable with words.
"The mayor, now that he’s dropped out of the presidential race because everyone hates him, is going to lead our city into a downward spiral.”
The politicians in NYC have gone completely off the rails with their virtue signaling.
Need advice from U.S.A. people
Next week we are going to have visitors at work. They are from the U. S. and they are going to talk to us a lot.
I will be honest, I have friends from the U.S.A. and some of them are very touchy, to the point I became afraid to talk to them at all so I wouldn't offend them by mistake. I am now very cautious, but I also want to feel comfortable, so I am trying to learn more of what shouldn't be said to an American person. Offending someone is the LAST thing I want to do, ever.
Are there words, idioms, body movements or other stuff that should be avoided in a conversation?
Any advice will be welcome.
Please reblog so other non-American people can learn as well.
Thank you!

Caution- This post contains words that may be considered offensive.
As readers and writers we know how powerful words can be. Words can make you happy or extremely miserable. Words can melt your heart or freeze it. As a linguist I may have an even more acute awareness of how powerful words can be and how we all should be more careful about how we use them.
I’m a romance writer, but I must confess…
