Summer nights were the best time of the year. There was nothing but faint sounds of nocturnal inscests chirpping greetings to one another, a cooling breeze to knock off a bit of the heat surrounding your face, and a sky that was lit just enough to enjoy the beauty of the darkened scene. Clothed in a baggy t-shirt and cut off jeans, Hanbyul watched her two year olds scream and yell across the backyard as they chased fireflies; their mother’s last ditch effort to tire them out enough to finally go to bed.
Ulterior motive though it was, it was a sweet moment. Mijung with a smile stuck to her face, breathless as she chased after each orb of light as they flickered on and off, Hyejung not sure which direction to run in, bouncing here and there in hopes one would just fly into her hand.
Those moments were rare laterly for the exhausted mother and though she willed the girls to get sleepy, she also wished for this moment to be stuck in time, eternally running on forever.
