“Ha! Wonder what the new cleaning crew thought?”
This was my first thought as I walked back into my office after the Fourth of July holiday weekend. You see, I have a new picture on my desk…..
I started looking around. I have things around me that definitely would tell a stranger that a Catholic works here. Aside from my desk picture, my wall calendar is from my Parish.
It notes Feasts and Solemnities. It shows me the liturgical colors for the day. It has beautiful holy artwork from throughout Christian art history and it even has an intercession prayer for vocations each month.
Right now, off to the side of my desk, I also have a volunteer schedule for a public reading of the entire Bible that is happening in downtown Muskegon, MI starting this week.
What kinds of things surround you as you work? Would a stranger entering your work area know that you are Christian? Would they know that you are Catholic?
If you cannot put holy images and things around you, be sure that every person that enters your office knows you are a Catholic Christian by your words and actions. I admit, this is something I need to remember from time to time during my workday. The images around me do serve as reminders.
Tell me, what is in your work area?
