DAYS LONG , TIRING ;    you’re hoping a gesture could go appreciated and that no questions could be asked. you’ve had a mission set for years now, snooping around government facilities and breaking laws to crack the truth on something you knew was occurring.   you had only hoped that cole wouldn’t come within the middle of it.    he was the last person you wanted to get hurt.

GRIEF , HAUNTING ; there were subjects you didn’t dare discuss, the thought alone made chest tighten and airways close ; allowed familiar grief to cloud judgement and something such as this was something you could not submit to.   eyes bore into him, a glare that could cut like a knife as hand slams down on the table.   oh you had tried not to reach anger, tried - but failed.

STUBBORN , ALWAYS  ;   you knew it and there was no doubt now that he did as well.    anyone who did, knew just that.  gaze remains at the book in your lap, tracing lines on paper, dotting eyes and crossing tees.   perhaps it was the wrong idea - to let him know where you’d be.   to let him know your plans. you couldn’t keep secrets from him, no matter how hard you tried.  this boy, standing before you - you trusted him with your life ;  your thoughts and dare you even say it - your heart. 

        “ i didn’t ask you to do that! god, why can’t you just - ” hand reaches from lap, brushing through blond hair and finally meeting his gaze.

Hop would like to think he didn’t audibly whimper, but he was very self aware. It was eight in the goddamn morning and not only was their half a cup of coffee in the pot, but Flo had taken all the donuts and replaced them with various fruits. As if fruit was going to get him through the day. At this point, he felt like bananas were only adding three seconds to his life span. If he died because he ate three donuts every morning, then that was his God given right.  In other words, his diet was going poorly. Muttering under his breath, his eyes scanned the desks of his officers, but the Chief didn’t find a mere crumb of donut on their desks. Lifting the pot, he poured what was left of the coffee into his mug, sighing at how little of an amount he got. Making a fresh pot, he nodded at Cole. “Harrington. How’s, uh, how’s everything going?”
