TW: femicide / murder
On Wednesday, January 12th - 23 year old primary school teacher and musician Ashling Murphy was going on a run along the canal in Tullamore, Co. Offaly at around 4pm (in broad daylight) when she was attacked and murdered.
The route she took brought her to Fiona’s Way, named after Fiona Pender who went missing over 25 years ago.
Now, I don’t know about you but I’m utterly sick of constantly being afraid! Women have to do lists on what to do when faced with the possibility of being assaulted and yet we’re still to blame for something that isn’t our fault.
There are vigils all across Ireland held in honour of Aisling. To find out more, please check out either the Hashtag on Instagram and/or Twitter #VigilforAshling or follow Women’s Council Ireland and Women’s Aid Ireland on Instagram
