You are the Batter. You are the Prince of Hope. This is the title of your mythological role which dictates the type of godly being you will become once you have ascended. Ascension tests your strength and the determination of your will, but rewards you for your efforts. To ascend to godhood is to gain the unparalleled power to purify. You will destroy the impure with your unwavering faith and righteous doctrine. 

Prince of Hope works because he's on a mission of purification acting under the faith of righteousness, and with Hope as optimism it works because he ruins everyone's day and does everything with total impassivity and an unswayable one track mindedness. Operating under the control of a higher power with whom he has placed his unquestioning faith is also obviously related to Hope. It was obvious he would be an active class, and though he may operate in the name of Hope he is very much an individual of Rage characteristics, and because his existence’s goal is to ‘cleanse’ (that means destroy) Prince of Hope seemed like the obvious choice! I had also temporarily considered Prince of Heart but I scrapped it.  

I am Judgesprite, but you may refer to me as The Judge. I have been granted insight into the machinations of this curious world, and all the intricate operations that makes time tick within this seemingly empty space. With this knowledge, I will guide you. 

You are within the Medium, the dimension in which exists a variety of astrological bodies imperative to your growth and the success of your mission. You are currently standing upon a planet which was created just for you, birthed from the nothingness by the will of reality, designed to aide you on your quest. It is the Land of Smoke and Corruption. It is a barren landscape upon which life has been snuffed by a monster at the core of the planet, a sun of a snake roiling in his violent slumber in his chambers as he awaits your imminent and foretold arrival. He is Yaldobaoth. The Land of Smoke and Corruption is one of dead, dull metal and plastic. LOSAC’s consorts, the inhabitants of this wretched existence, are an unfortunate society of docile crocodiles who have as equally unfortunately fallen victim to the curse of darkness and impurity. Yaldobaoth has conspired with the Horrorterrors, vile elder gods residing in the void known as the Furthest Ring. Their whispers of madness and corrupt magic has brought a thick smoke like a blight of locusts upon the land. Within it, your consorts have begun to lose themselves. You must fight through the underlings Yaldobaoth has summoned to impede you and find a way to restore light and purity to the overcast planet, purifying it and saving your consorts in the process. Free this wilted land from its corrupt prison, Prince. Your quest is to find the hearts of corruption poisoning this land, and purify them. 

I think the inspiration for the land speaks for itself. The quest is simple but the Batter is a simple man. I was tempted to do something very antiBatter but I couldn’t really think of anything. 

There are others like you here. They too have godly titles, they too have lands, and they too have quests to embark upon to realize their own ultimate potentials. To succeed in your mission, you must traverse their lands. Access to these lands will be granted to you once you find the gates upon your own land, which will teleport you to the other planets. 

You may create weapons and armour through the mystical device known as the Alchemiter, once you have collected the sufficient grist by purifying Yaldobaoth’s many underlings hiding behind the smokey veil, of course. 

When you sleep, you will awaken on the moon of Prospit. Your dreamself will be able to interact with the Prospitian royalty and their devout people, strange white insectoid aliens known as carapacians. Here you will be able to gaze into the oracular clouds of Skaia and be made privy to visions of the future to help you along your way.

I’m tempted to try writing fic for this. The other players are human!Dedan/Japhet/Enoch. I don’t think I’ll include the queen or the baby, but I want to try to throw Zacharie in there, so maybe if I included Sugar as well? Who knows.

Summary:  The Batter, our protagonist, has found himself within the Medium alongside unwitting AU (human) versions of the three zone guardians, as well as our friends Zacharie and Sugar. Assigned the title of Prince of Hope, he will - with the guiding hand of Judgesprite - purify the Land of Smoke and Corruption, a once peaceful land of metal and plastic which has fallen prey to the whisperings of the Furthest Ring. Nothing will stand in his quest for purification. SBURB means nothing to him. All that matters is that his sacred mission is completed, at the behest of the author pulling the strings behind the scenes. Will the Judge and Zacharie finally convince the Batter to break free of the Creator's controls and assume the free will and self awareness itching below the surface, perhaps even aiding their session in the hope of creating a new universe?
