pokemon legends redraw of fallen angel by alexandre cabanel
nobody asked but heres my pla headcanons
someone mentioned that volo will look at the camera if you get close enough to him. and yeah it seems like he does! last pic is him actually looking at the player character for comparison
I love this interaction so much because there are so many layers to it, especially when you look back at it after learning Volo’s true nature.
First of all, since Volo shows a lot of signs of being a total sociopath, it’s pretty clear to me that he doesn’t care about Ingo at all. He isn’t asking about Ingo’s memory loss or expressing hope that he gets his memory back out of any sort of compassion for Ingo; he’s only asking about it because he hopes Ingo can tell him what’s on the other side of the rift. Volo is only interested in Ingo as a potential source of information about the rift and, by extension, Arceus. Ingo’s suffering doesn’t matter to Volo in the slightest.
Volo’s suggestion that the space-time rift might be responsible for what happened to Ingo comes across as especially scummy in light of the reveal that Volo’s pact with Giratina is what caused the rift to open in the first place. Whether true or not, Volo theorizes that he may be responsible for Ingo’s plight, and that possibility doesn’t bother him at all. He believes his pact with Giratina may have completely ruined this man’s life, and he hasn’t lost a wink of sleep over it.
On Ingo’s side, his line, “I can’t remember my own home, nor my family, if I had any…” is particularly heartwrenching. The reason Ingo’s situation has struck a chord with so many fans is because we know exactly what he lost. In Gen V, Ingo and his brother were always presented as a pair, both in the games and in various adaptations. Now, Ingo doesn’t even remember that Emmet exists. Everything that he loved, everything that defined who he was, is gone, without explanation.
And there’s a very real chance that it’s all because of the man who has the audacity to smile at him and say, “Well, I do hope your memories return, Warden Ingo.”
TW: angst, some blood (also PLA spoilers)
From @waywardstation’s “It’s Nothing Personal, It’s Just Business”
What started off as a collection of sketches turned into this short, sketchy comic based on the climax & cool down of the story (the latter being the part I reread the most). I really love genuinely good men who end up being a found father to someone who needs help, & just about every fic Wayward made about Ingo & Akari does just that.
When I played Legends Arceus, I think I might’ve had the Volo twist spoiled for me? I can’t remember. It made me wonder if I could’ve, as Ingo does in the story, see him for what he was. Wayward very astutely points out how his behavior is very predatory; that alone tells me I probably would’ve been unnerved at least.
Meanwhile, Mizumi probably would’ve been taken by surprise as Akari was in the story (maybe?) - an idea to explore at another time!
Pokémon but I badly edited Onion Headlines onto it
Part 2, Part 3
part 2
this just in!! local eldritch horror just really likes the train guys
(giratina bringing ingo and emmet to volo is the equivalent of a cat putting a dead mouse on it’s owner’s pillow. it’s very pleased with itself but volo is confused and disgusted and wishes it would stop)
This is what my little brother said when he didn't want to give me back my giratina
He's a fool
"good luck keeping them from killing each other :D"
i am once again thinking about Ingo being Akari and Rei's defacto guardian. i wanted to include Volo somehow, and now I'm imagining him as their occasional tagalong who slyly riles everyone up and then dips when a fight breaks out!
there is something so comedic to me about the idea of Volo and Ingo getting together. smooch the guy who forgot god sent him there to stop you
also i just love the dynamic of someone so damn earnest swaying over someone who is extremely duplicitous, its cute
Do you think Volo tells people cursed lore for fun?
Bonus:
she has good intentions, but...
part 1 / part 3
choosing to believe that joltik’s can act like tasers. on that note, emmet and ingo have probably dealt with aggressive fanatics on the subway before (ie, team plasma)
Project Voltage cannot drop a Cynthia Banger and not expect me to respond!!
howl....but its volo
guy who has done some terrible things
