‘ needing anyone is weak. ‘ // @thelastbertinelli
Danny wasn’t usually an argumentative man. He’d learned a long time ago that arguing with people rarely did anything to change their minds, and it tended to get him more worked up than the person on the other side of it. But... sometimes, he wasn’t as good at holding his tongue as he might have liked to be. Sometimes, things were so wrong that he couldn’t help but let the argument come tumbling out.
“I think it takes a lot of strength to admit you need help, actually,” he said quietly, looking down at his hands. He traced the lines in his palm as if it were the most interesting thing he’d ever seen, as if it might contain the secrets of the universe. “Everybody wants to think they can take on the world alone, but... Nobody can actually do it. When you realize that, when you let the people who care about you in and let them help you? I think that makes you stronger than anything.” He paused for a moment before adding, “I’m still trying to get there. My wife is better at it than I am. She’s the strongest person I know because she can admit when she needs help.”
