@ofrussiandesign from here.
He can SEE the argument looming in the other man and he prepares to push back against it. He’s seen fighters at their very limits, pushed PAST exhaustion. And they still look better than Barnes does right now. His eyes seem barely able to stay open, he’s LEANING like he’s half in the bag... there’s no way he can so much as send him to the sandbag to pound it out. The kid needs SLEEP. Anyone can see that.
He knows he’s hard on his fighters, even on the ones that just come to train for PERSONAL reasons and not to actually fight. It gets results. But, he’s not a fucking SADIST. Anyone who comes in looking even HALF as bad as Bucky does and he sends them home. His fighters are trained to push to their limits and beyond, but it’s clear that just by GETTING here, Bucky’s pushed past what he can do. Now he just needs to get some REST.
“Bullshit. NO ONE goes a week and you’re NOT fine,” Brock insists, shaking his head firmly. He’s about to argue further when Bucky tips, arms moving immediately to wrap around him to help keep the younger man upright. Biting back a sigh at the PETULANT response he gets, Brock stands behind Bucky, one hand running over his back lightly.
“Kiddo... you’re in ROUGH shape. Let me take you home, okay? Please?” he asks gently, keeping one hand on his lower back. Ever since the first day Bucky had come into the gym, he’d felt this SURGE of protectiveness for the younger man. And he’s not about to let one of his most dedicated people wander off while in this bad of shape. It’s still early, the gym is mostly empty. He won’t be missed if he’s gone. Standing behind Bucky, Brock puts his hands on his shoulders and squeezes gently. “C’mon, kiddo... let me take you home.”
