There were three names that immediately jumped forward. Dinah? Jessica. Zee. Three people she knew she could turn to no matter what -- Dinah might have a question mark behind her name, but Sofia was hopeful that things were still salvageable. That things weren’t so far gone that they couldn’t be fixed. And maybe things wouldn’t be perfect between them for a long time, maybe things would take a while to mend -- maybe they would never mend... but Sofia couldn’t separate the Dinah she knew now from the Dinah who helped her in the hospital. The Dinah that gave her a roof over her head when she was squatting in the backroom of the hex shop. Dinah might be different now, but that person -- she was still in there somewhere. That good in her heart didn’t just vanish overnight.

Now wasn’t the time to argue about that. To the world, Dinah was a different person. Practically a stranger these days -- but she still had people. “Jessica and Aunt Zee,” Sofia said. Jessica was like family, but something told her even an honorary ‘aunt’ title would have freaked her out. But she was the person Sofia could go to for sugary snacks and whiskey -- have the heavy conversations without the judgment or the drama. And Zee was one of the only people who actually understood magic and what Sofia was going through. But the one thing that they both had in common? Sofia never felt like she had to hide who she was around them. She constantly found herself surprised with how accepting the people in her life were of who she was -- of the dumb things she did. Aunt Vesper had taught Sofia to be wary of everyone. To be scared of her magic -- but Sofia had found understanding in strangers in New York City. But more importantly, she had found family. @hearthecanarycry @akajustjessicajones @fo-annataz

If there’s one staple for spider-themed super heroes, it’s guilt! They’ve all got it in droves, and Miles is no different. One thing he feels exceptionally guilty about is, predictably, Peter’s death in his universe. He views this as one of his biggest mistakes because, in his mind, Peter died because Miles failed to save him.

Realistically, there was nothing Miles could have done. He was a terrified kid who’d had his powers for a few hours and had no idea how to use them, but he still sat back and watched his hero die, knowing that he had some capability to fight at his side. In the time sense Peter’s death, he’s come up with a thousand ways he could have changed things. He could have jumped in, could have used his venom blasts or his invisibility or something to help, but he didn’t. He sat back, he did nothing, and Peter died. And Miles will regret that for the rest of his life.

Jessica regularly commits crimes like, breaking and entering, vandalism, and petty assault. That’s how the bar fights are usually classified. (There’s also, you know, the murders.) But as far as mischief goes, the worst she ever got up to was probably with Stirling. They would go on ‘shopping sprees’ when one of them had a bad day (and wouldn’t you know it, they had bad days a lot). This involved breaking into ATMs, into closed stores, taking what they wanted, when they wanted it. It’s how she got her jacket. And she’s not exactly proud of it, especially now that she knows how much Stirling was using her, but... It’s a damn good jacket.

There wasn’t supposed to be anyone else there. That was the case for most jobs Elektra took on, of course. She disliked drawing attention to herself when unnecessary, disliked it when people were looking at her in the moments she wanted them looking away. Usually, she was good at avoiding it but tonight, it seemed she might have miscalculated.

She wasn’t alone in the house. She knew exactly where her target was, had mapped out his every move for the last month to the point that she knew his schedule backwards and forwards. He was in the bed, but there was someone else on the stairs, and Elektra crept up after them in silence.

She entered the bedroom just in time for the gun to go off, and she huffed an annoyed sigh at the sight. “I don’t often find myself in second place,” she said in way of greeting, leaning against the door frame with her sai in hand. “I suppose you’re being paid? You don’t look the type stupid enough to kill a man like this in a crime of passion.”
