“get up.” said with blade in hand && eyes forward. the enemy before them would relent none. “this fight’s not over.”
He stood frozen in shock, staring at the creature before him. It was massive, towering over him like a colossus, its eyes glinting with a fierce and savage intelligence. He had never seen aught like it before, had never imagined that such a thing could exist in any world. And yet, there it was, standing before him, poised to strike. He felt a voice just over his shoulder, and he turned to see his companion, her face set, blade drawn and with a look of grim determination. She was the reason he was still standing, the reason he had not been crushed beneath the monster's massive feet.
What gods-forsaken trouble he had gotten into now? What perilous path had led him to this place, this moment? He could not afford to dwell on that. He had to focus, to find a way to defeat this creature, to survive. He looked around, searching for his sword and shield, or anything that could help him in this fight. But all he saw was the cold, barren landscape, the rocks and snow and ice. And then he remembered - his own strength, his own will. He could not rely on others to save him, could not give up in the face of danger.
Drawing himself up, he took a deep breath, and charged at the creature, his armored fists clenched, his body infused with adrenaline. The monster roared, lashing out with its massive claws, but he ducked and weaved, evading the blows. He felt a surge of energy, of power, as he struck the creature, landing blow after blow. And as he fought, he saw his companion beside him, her own strength and courage supporting him. And then, finally, the creature fell, crashing to the ground with a thunderous roar. The man stood panting, his mind heavy and his body aching from the fight. But he knew that he had survived, that he had triumphed over this great and terrible foe.
"What a bastard." Slowly he turned to her, a look of gratitude and respect on his face. He knew that without her, he would not have made it through this ordeal. "..want to tell me what place this is? How I even got here?"
