To the best mom a girl could ask for,

I know birthdays aren't really your thing, but did you really think I was going to let your birthday go unnoticed? Do you not know who you raised? I would throw you a giant party if I could. I don't say it everyday, but I am so, so grateful that you got stuck with Josie and I. You have shaped me into the very woman I am today, and when I needed someone you were always there (if not, a plane trip away). I wish I could take you to our favorite little cafe in Paris for a cute little mimosa brunch, and while New Orleans isn't Paris, we could recreate it! You have sacrificed so much to be the woman you are today and I am so, so proud of who you are. I love you, and Happy Birthday!

Since coming back, her one goal was to reunite with Caroline. She fought herself on it for a bit. She had no idea how she was back, or even why. She didn't even know if being back was a permanent thing. Did she really want to give Caroline that false hope? Absolutely not. But there was so many things that Liz wanted to tell Caroline before she passed, she wrote a portion of it in the letter but there was still more to say. There would always be more to say. Though she was a vampire, Liz could see the change. She grew more into herself, chin up, eyes forward instead of downcast, Liz couldn't have been more proud of her daughter than she was now. She stepped forward, instinct had her reaching a hand out but she let it fall between them - "Caroline."

"Pedro, don't go far." Bonnie called out to her nine-year-old son as she walked alongside Caroline through the busy city of New Orleans. She kept an eye on him as he excitedly went from window to window of the shops aligned on the sidewalk. She's been to New Orleans once or twice in her time traveling, she liked it - she didn't like the politics that came with it, but she was pretty good at steering clear of that mess. But did she ever think she'd settle down here? No, no she did not. Yet here she was. "I have an appointment to look at this house a little later today." Eyes briefly move to her best friend, "Wanna come with? See if it's up to Caroline standard." Because anything less would just not do.
