Dear Thea,

IT ISN’T YOUR FAULT.

i know that doesn’t mean much, it never did to me and, if you’re anything like oliver -- and trust me, you are -- it won’t mean anything to you. i could sit here and ramble about everything you shouldn’t be feeling, tell you that it was bound to happen, promise you that you should feel no guilt for it but the more i sit here and write words that you’ll never read the more i find myself noticing the fault in those half truths. i can’t tell you what to feel, i can’t tell you that the guilt won’t eat you alive because.. what i almost did to you rots me from the inside out every single day. even if i could it’d make as much difference as it did when oliver said it. or when laurel said it. i keep writing these letters to you with the hope that i can ease some of the pain from your soul -- i never intended for this to happen. if i knew coming back to starling would, if i knew you would be put in the position you were put in then.. i guess i wouldn’t have come back at all. malcolm or not.

i wish, more than anything in the world, that i could home but.. i don’t trust myself. i need to know i can control this and that, in no way, is a reflection on you. i feel like we left things a little.. ever since laurel.. thea, i’m sorry. not just for the bloodlust but for everything that has happened to you since i got on the gambit with your brother. i think back on it a lot, think back on you, and i wonder if things would’ve been different if i’d just stayed home like originally planned. maybe you wouldn’t have lost your brother - maybe he wouldn’t have lost himself - maybe you wouldn’t have had to find yourself through someone you thought was trying to better you in the long run. 

i don’t blame you for any of it. my death, my resurrection, my bloodlust - that doesn’t fall on you. laurel’s death - that isn’t your weight to carry. you did, you always do, everything you could - everything you can - to make sure the ones you love are safe. i know at times it can seem like if you would’ve done something different, if you would’ve been there a second faster, you could’ve saved her and the truth is.. time wanted it to happen. rip, captain hunter, altered the timeline in order to get me here. it was out of your hands before it was even in your hands. same with my death, my resurrection, my bloodlust. rip counted on it happening because time had allowed it to happen so many times before - it was set in stone, never to be unwritten. except, apparently, by the man who was supposed to protect time himself.

tell oliver i don’t blame him either. it wasn’t - there was nothing you two could’ve done. there was nothing i could’ve done - my dad.. if i hadn’t left with rip we’d all be dead. not just laurel. and that’s on me. leaving you alone on that rooftop, that’s on me. letting oliver leave you with malcolm when i knew the dangers of his past, that’s on me. i have nobody to blame but myself. 

i miss you. i miss ollie. i’ll be home soon.
