❂ - Your character throwing a snowball at mine
The worst part of watching them get older was watching them wise up to your tricks, Jack decided. He could deal with Jamie and Sophie growing up, in fact it was kind of fun to watch how they changed over the years, but it made pranking them way more difficult than it used to be. As he hid up in the branches of a tree in the Bennett front yard, he recalled a time when this whole thing would be as simple as shouting for Sophie and clobbering her as she opened the front door in an excited rush to see him.
Now he was challenged to get crafty, linger out of sight like some kind of spectre, waiting for the prime moment to strike.
Jack couldn't tell you how long he'd waited this time, it felt like hours, but every second felt like hours when you were wound up like a spring and anxious for something to happen. When the front door finally opened, he nearly blew his cover when he jerked upright and nearly fell from his perch. Blue eyes watched as his blonde-headed prey walked unsuspectingly down the shoveled sidewalk towards the mailbox.
When Sophie's back was finally to him, he struck. Quickly as he could, Jack flipped over backwards, dangling from the branch by his knees and unloaded two quick snowballs he'd tucked into his hoodie's pocket. The momentum of the throws sent him swinging as he watched his prank unfold.
