been seeing a lot of good points abt ppl’s responses to generative ai & i’m lowkey realizing how much of my own dislike of generative ai comes down to the Everyone Is Being Made Less Intelligent feeling that i used to find so annoying in my parents .. i’m not sure what to make of it . i don’t think i’m necessarily Wrong in observing it . it’s disappointing to watch professors(!) & peers rely on something that (to my understanding) At Best saves time and At Worst isolates people from others & from their own minds . i still don’t have much insight into or understanding of the environmental or labor impacts ; none of the things i’m expressing here have anything to do with that , to my knowledge .

i’m also aware that there’s an undercurrent of Religious Self-Righteousness / Speculation About “The Human Soul” and Fear Of Technology in my dislike for generative ai . i don’t think that these things necessarily discredit that dislike ; but obv i can’t let them be the entire basis for my opinions & beliefs without first fleshing them out into their own principles
