There's smth so beautiful in kakashi having low empathy & obito knowing this and taking it in his stride... I dont think obito would ever expect any sort of emotional intelligence or maturity from him & isn't disappointed when it doesn't come no matter how grumpy he sounds about it. Kakashi failing to find the right words to say when obito's distressed or even really clocking it at all until it gets bad but for obito, kakashi trying is enough and makes him feel better. obito's self-sacrificing care for kakashi & his reassurance that kakashi was a great jonin (while he himself was suffering with the worst pain imaginable) while kakashi doesn't show much empathy toward obito or his pleas to go save rin until kakashi was reminded of his father is such a precious thing and I think it would be a big part of their dynamic had obito lived
