I just stumbled across this and I just - this is pretty much a summary of a talk I had with a masters student about university admin.
The longer version was ‘They will tell you lots of things are inflexible and important and very few are. Figure out the deadlines and forms that are crucial and the ones that aren’t and it’s a lot easier.’
A great example being the time they said it was vital to have study away forms for a 4 week field school approved before we left. We all submitted them in time and then finally received the approval emails 4 days before we returned home.
