headcanon that bucky was into poetry and wrote gay ass poetry about steve and would publish some for easy money and he would always tweak it a little so people would think it was about whatever girl he was dating at the time and people were like. omg bucky ur such a ladies man but it was actually about steve and steve always knew that

i’ve always had the headcanon that steve and bucky both did some Unofficial stuff and odd for extra money. usually i write bucky as a dock boy because he’s big and strong and they lived in brooklyn but i also one day will eventually write about him being a salesman as well because he’s sooooo naturally charming and well dressed ... every housewife in NYC would have been fawning over him as soon as they opened the door and saw that pinstriped suit. bucky with a briefcase ? yeah i need it! imagining him coming home and collapsing on the couch with it on his lap as he loosens his tie because he kinda hates having to trudge around the city all day but the job has better pay and is a step up from grunt work ... either way with either job steve would always be there coming out of the kitchen where he’s been using the table to draw commissions all day or is trying to cook something up with the slightly too beat up produce his boss at the grocer’s let him have at a discount .... bucky turning the charm back on momentarily and pretending to try and sell steve his product .. making him pay in kisses ... ANYWAYS! i got distracted. but on top of their actual jobs i always imagine that steve draws comics for the local papers (that bucky always clips out and keeps because he’s a proud boyfriend and a sap) and maybe draws some lewd stuff for like Those types of magazines (also imagining that being part of how he figures out he doesn’t like women- because he was never affected by drawing them and only figured out it wasn’t just due to professional focus after he got himself in a tizzy the first time he drew a man with them). for bucky i loooooove the headcanon i have about him fighting in underground boxing matches on the weekends for prize money. him coming home sweaty and torn up with steve having to play nurse on him (yes i already wrote the fic but that doesn’t mean i can’t still think about it!) ... which contrasts directly with the other odd job he has of writing poetry. it’s probably nothing big. maybe published under a pen name in the campus magazine for a college he doesn’t even technically go to anymore or even better, put in some of the same papers as steve art is ... yeah. yeah. bucky always liked poetry growing up ... was always a romantic even before he knew he and steve were in love ... bucky barnes has too much of a way with words and women not to have put it to use. he WAS a ladies man in the sense that everyone wanted him but it stopped mattering because he had someone to write about that meant so much more ...
