Farah: Deacon, stop putting sunglasses on all the bald bodies.
5 Deacon Headcanons
1) - Deacon is capable of great violence. He’s more than the laid back, funny, compulsive liar persona he shows to the world. When the U.P. Deathclaws brutally killed Barbara, Deacon fucking mutilated most of them. He went into a blind rage and slaughtered them. He even says in his final affinity talk, “I don’t remember much clearly after that. I know I killed most of the ‘Claws.”
1.5) - This could be one reason why he doesn’t like running missions with Glory, who is more concerned about protecting synths and Railroad agents than how many fatalities she’s responsible for. And it may be why Deacon doesn’t hold a grudge against the Sole Survivor if he decides not to travel with them anymore. Deacon can’t judge anyone when he’s done far worse.
2) - He refuses to take pain killers when his injuries require more than a stimpak. This is because a) Deacon used to be addicted to chems when he was younger and now stays away from all of them; and/or b) pain killers can make a person loopy and Deacon doesn’t want to risk divulging any Railroad secrets.
3) - He’s used torture in the past but only when he was in dire straits. Deacon learned through spy novels and tradecraft magazines that the best way to gather intel is by gaining someone’s trust. But when he was starting out in the Railroad, it was easier for him to trust other people. That may have cost other agents their lives. He used torture on the one or two people who betrayed him in order to find out what they knew, how they found out, and if he was responsible for the leak.
4) - Deacon doesn’t do casual sex or relationships. Not for a long time. If anyone is fortunate enough to be in a relationship with Deacon, then it’s the ultimate sign of trust. They also won’t find a partner more devoted than Deacon. If he trusts them, then he’s determined to show he can be trusted, too.
5) - No one knows how ginormous Deacon’s book collection actually is. He loves reading, loves learning, and the books from the past are relics that should be saved for future generations to enjoy. (Not stored away for only Brotherhood Scribes to have access to.) So, Deacon takes it upon himself to pick up any book he comes across that’s in fair to good condition. He owns multiple copies of several titles. Only a fraction of his collection is located at Railroad HQ. Some found their way at the Diamond City schoolhouse. And once in a while, the Sole Survivor and other companions will find a book in their backpacks.
@wastelandhalloween Did Deacon and Farah ever tell you about the time they disguised themselves as raiders and stormed the federal stockpile bunker? Maybe a disguise isn’t technically a costume, but to Farah, it was surprisingly a lot of fun!
“He may not have much of a butt, but it’s still nice to look at.” ~ one of Farah’s innermost thoughts
I was writing the prompt @kirkwallgirl-personal picked for me from this post and I suddenly needed to see Deacon with some facial hair. I can’t see Deacon being a fan of the stubble but it got Farah’s attention. *lol* So, the stubble stays for now.
