The "Weren't we planning to have tea and laugh together ten years from now?" line from Utena makes me insane.

In the initial usage Utena is still playing at ignorance, 'isn't this great Anthy? I want to still be having tea with you like this in ten years' then Things Fall Apart, Utena's willful ignorance is shattered, and she uses it again during Anthy's suicide attempt. Literally holding her back from the edge and saying 'how could you leave? Don't you remember? We made a promise to be happy together ten years from now.'

“     aha,   i was not about to ask you to.     ”     ferdinand leans into both the soft plush of their antique sofa and hubert’s comforting embrace.   exhaustion from a day’s work at the palace settles heavy in their expressions,   tired eyes and weary but fond smiles directed at each other.   ferdinand strums a few fingers up and down hubert’s back,   a relaxing rhythm,   and leans to press a sweet kiss centered on hubert’s forehead.

for as close as they are,   the cold chill still creeps at the edges of their embrace.   ferdinand’s eyes,   fanned with long lashes,   flit open to the fireplace across from them.   earthy logs stacked tall beside it,   gathered earlier in the year,   but none yet in the firebox.   he pats hubert’s shoulder,   reassuring.     “     however,   if you let me up for the briefest of moments,   my handsome darling  ――  i can put a nice,   warm fire on the hearth.   i will come immediately back,   i promise.     ”
