I am fascinated by these yellow summer flowers of Delhi since my first summer bloom here 8 years ago. They have brought me immense joy and hope in times when I had little. I've painted the before in the "Glee" painting and I'll paint them again. The turning of the season and their multitudinous appearance reminds me that there is enough for everyone on this abundant earth. That both good and bad times are fleeting and fortunes change just as seasons turn. That there will be plenty after a harsh summer drought. This year the nearby garden had an entire flock of them and everyday, I would hesitatingly pluck and bring them home. Thinking I'd paint them. They hover over my desk now. This year, I've wanted to be these flowers. I've wanted to inhabit their essence. So this year I will strive: To bring unexpected and enormous joy and hope. To captivate and motivate. To embody curves and angles gracefully. To live in a multitudinous community. To be multifaceted even in unity. To be symmetrical and balanced. To be delicate but powerful.
