oh gods i am not sure you know what you’ve started here but-
bucky barnes is a beautiful cinnamon roll too good for this world, too pure. buuuut he is also fundamentally Not Perfect and his personality is a lot more complex than “adorable woobie baby in need of hugs”, which I’ll admit is a fandom trope that bugs me sometimes. i also think there’s a lot to be said about hydra’s treatment of the winter soldier as rape/abuse analogy?? all of which has been said more eloquently by people that are not me, admittedly, but i like that that’s a thing and its so explicitly meant as awful?? im not. explaining myself well here. but thats also a big part of why i can’t bring myself to dislike the hydra trash party side of fandom.
also bucky is hella agender and u will literally never convince me otherwise honestly, bc of course he is, and if he wasn’t before the war then he definitley is in the 21st century, bc the winter soldier barely even had a concept of himself as a person let alone as male, and maybe when he’s still trying to figure things out he realises that, hey, he doesn’t really need the dude label and thats meant to be a thing in this time and its all different from the person he was Before but so id everything about him. and maybe that’s okay.
