(Part 0) Outside PNF-404: General Stuff
For the longest time, I’ve been speculating and imagining how could Olimar and the other captains and explorers could exist, (pikmin and other PNF-404 creatures too but I’ll do that a different time when I grow my biology knowledge). More precisely what, how, and why they are the way they are. And also what the descriptions of their planets lends to their biology. I’ve seen a couple of really neat takes on their biology, planets and speculations on the intergalactic societies of their respective planets. But, I’d like to offer my own interpretations and speculations to the table of headcanons. I feel like some facts are left out. I’d also love to dive into the social, political, and cultural aspects of each planet So, I present to you, the *speculated* biology of Hocotate, Koppai/Karut (probably has the same biology as Koppai with it being a sister planet), Giya, Ohri and Nijo!
- General Stuff Before We Get Started -
According to Pikmin 3’s beginning narration, Koppai is 270,000 light years away, which would likely put it in or around the Small Magellanic Cloud (which actually has been recently found to be composed of 2 dwarf galaxies, how cool is that!). I spent a good while researching the stars of the SMC, LMC and Price Whelan 1 and determined that every planet fits within all of these. For the major six planets, I put Giya and Ohri in the Price Whelan 1 cluster since it’s the closest to PNF-404 (their origin point), Hocotate and Nijo in the Large Magellanic Cloud and Koppai and Karut in the Small Magellanic Cloud, not for any reason other then stars there seemed to fit the planets and just for fun.
let’s get the stuff that applies to all of Pikmin’s captains biology out of the way. Key points; all seem to have a completely different respiratory system than ours, all are very small in size (averaging 1 cm), and all lack any sort of “natural” hair colour or shape. That seems rather strange, considering that the Japanese Pikmin Garden website and Pikmin 4’s logs give strong evidence that they are all descendants of us humans. In order for such change and adaptation on a molecular scale to happen, evolution, naturally, would happen at a very, very slow pace. I don’t think humanity took its time to slowly adapt to different conditions, evidently so in the fact that PNF-404 appears to be abandoned on the spot. It’s all so sudden. And that leads me to believe that humanity might’ve evolved fast and forcefully, or in other terms, some sort of bio-engineering took place. Bio-engineering appears to exist and be advanced, as suggested by Pitunia’s claim that she was made by a “biocrafter”. Anyways, boom, now we have humanity being able have whatever hair they can think of on a whim (looking at you, Puddle) and the ability to breath the air of whatever planets they’ve taken refuge on that are devoid of oxygen. Speaking of breathing, animals from Earths past show evidence of growth with higher oxygen concentrations and shrinkage with oxygen depletion, look at the Carboniferous period and the insects then. Perhaps with the low amounts and therefore low oxygen tolerance of them did they become small to conserve energy? Smaller beings need much less energy and air to survive and sustain themselves.
Also obviously planets aren’t going to have the same culture and architecture across the world, that’s like saying everywhere on Earth has the exact same kinda stuff lol

I will do the planets in the following order; Hocotate, Koppai, Karut, Giya, Ohri and Nijo! Stay tuned for Hocotate amigos :)
EDIT: Here’s the map. I’m going to post it here too cause why not
