Travel essentials

The travel season is upon us! These are a few essentials that I rely on to make sure I always get a good night sleep and to make my flights as comfortable as possible (whilst also trying to avoid getting sick on the plane).

Darkness wanted

First up, a sleep mask (£8.99). I've got this exact one and I wear it every single night. I'm a light sleeper and I prefer a completely dark bedroom/plane/car. Especially when travelling that can be hard to find. This mask prevents me from waking up at 6 am. Just because the sun's up doesn't mean I want to be up ;-). It's great because it has a comfortable contour around the nose, the strap is adjustable and it doesn't press on the eyes. You will look a bit like a bee but who cares, you're getting a good night sleep!

Silence needed

Next essential, earplugs (£4.99). Most noise will wake me up. So instead of slowly killing myself with frustration over noise that other people are making, I started sleeping with earplugs (I started after sharing a flat during university with 2 girls who had a habit of having kitchen parties at 5 am on a Tuesday. Sounds fun but not if you've got an 8 am class). I've tried various kinds (silicons, foam and other brands of wax earplugs) but these are my absolute favourite. I've been using them for years and it makes such a difference! Now they don't cut sound so much that you wouldn't hear fire alarms etc. They just take down the noise to a level where it's less likely to bother you. Got a snoring partner? This could help you sleep. Although some people snore so loudly I'm surprise houses haven't come down because of the vibrations.

Avoid the dreaded after-flight-cold

A little trick I learned years ago. I often used to get sick after flying until I started using a nose spray. The idea is that the air on the planes dries out your nose. Because of that the skin on the inside of your nose starts to get tiny cracks. Through these cracks it's easier for bacteria to infect you, thus making you sick. A good way to prevent those cracks is to use a nose spray a few times during the flight. I like to use Boots saline nasal spray (£2.39). I use the kids version since it comes in a small size so it can go in your hand luggage.

Not a dry eye

Oh the dry air on board the plane, the struggle is real! I often have some eye drops in my bag in case my eyes start to get dry. That's generally happens during a flight or after a good cry. I like these because they are individually packaged, which is great if you don't use them that often. Most eye drops need to be tossed a few weeks after opening (what a waste!). I like these from Boots (£5.89) but I know in the pharmacy you can find some other brands as well that do the individual doses.

Swipe that wipe

Last up, anti-bacterial wipes. Always good to have in your bag. I like these especially for flying. Nice to be able to clean your hands before and after eating/doing your in-flight-facial. After cleaning my hands I might just wipe it over the arm rests/tray table since I don't think those get cleaned that often. I like these, available at Boots (£0.99)

Es muss wirklich schwer für einen Mann sein gleich zwei Mädels zu haben die Schminke, Klamotten, Spielzeug und einen Computer haben wollen und dann noch große blaue Kulleraugen, mit denen sie sich das alles erbetteln. Ich wurde heute Zeuge eines solchen Events :D Cerys geht in die Küche und schaut ihren Vater mit Hundeaugen an. "Daddy. Can I have Sims, please? Plleeeaasee!!!?? Daddy.!" *Schmollmund* :DD So geil. Er sah mich dann an und meinte nur so, "What's that?". Ja, ich gebe es ja zu. Ich habe den Mädels mein Sims Spiel gezeigt und sie durften sich eine Figur und ein Haus erstellen. Danach wurde im Internet nachgeforscht, wieviel denn dieses Spiel kostet. ;D Es ist wirklich erstaunlich wie schwer es ist Sims zu spielen, wenn man alles auf Englisch Übersetzen muss!! Ich glaube, so viel habe ich die ganze Woche nicht geredet. Gestern waren wir in Sutton shoppen und ja! Ich habe mir Schuhe gekauft. Schöne Schuhe! Und der Laden in dem wir waren, echt was haben die Engländer nur mit diesem 2 von der Sorte für 5 Pfund, 3 von der Sorte für ein Pfund. In jedem Supermarkt und sowieso überall sind diese Angebote angebracht manchmal auch mit dem freundlichen Hinweis, dass man das nicht einzeln kaufen kann. Außerdem waren wir bei KFC. Das ist wie Mc Doof nur mit Pepsi und weniger Burgern, ungesalzenen Pommes und BBQ Sauce (HP BBQ - Gefunden auf Otto.de) War schon ganz schön assi da drinnen! Ich meine man sitzt da und denkt an nichts böses, schaut an die Decke und dann klebt da eine dieser Pommes und komische Fettflecken. Mal im Erst! Was muss man denn veranstallten, damit die Pommes an der Decke kleben bleibt. Nja wenigstens kurzzeitig. Sagen wir einfach, ich war nach 3 Minuten um eine Pommes reicher :P Nie wieder!!! Da geh ich lieber zu Subway oder Mc Doof. Auch wenn ich dann da stehe und dauernd "Pardon? Sorry?! Can you repeat your question, please!" sagen werde. Solange mir keine Pommes auf mein Mittagessen fallen geht das in Ordnung!

Die Menschen durch ein Busfenster zu beobachten ist echt lustig. Vor allem wenn da einer rumrennt mit Umhang und Zauberstab. Von meinen Mädels liebevoll "the wizard" genannt. Der ist super! Ich muss unbedingt noch ein Foto von ihm oder besser noch mit ihm machen :DD (hoffentlich verflucht er mich dann nicht ;)) Vielleich an Halloween ^_^Ansonsten haben wir heute zusammen gesungen (mit der Gitarre) und das hat echt Spaß gemacht, da die Mädels schöne Stimmen haben nun ihre Schüchternheit abgelegt haben. Nun wird aus voller Kehle den ganzen Tag Halo von Beyoncé und Perfect von Pink geträllert. Am Anfang fand ich es nocht süß . . . Nun gut. Das wars für den Moment.
