Been a busy week, but was finally able to get something done of my PJO DnD babygirl for @riordanverse-oc-week!
Name: Oikia 'Kia'
Birthday: ??? (Arrived to Camp on December 25th, assumed 13 years old)
Pronouns: she/her
Pantheon: Greek Demigod, Cabin 9
Fatal Flaw: Idealism
Backstory: When the young demigod first wakes up in a New York alleyway on a snowy winter night, she has no memory of who she is -- all she knows about herself is she has a dim fire burning inside her and is tasty to monsters. Barely surviving, a satyr finally finds her and brings her to Camp Half-Blood where Chiron tells her in ancient Greek that she is "oikos" -- which she takes inspiration of for her name. She gets sorted into the Hephaestus cabin because of her fire powers, though she struggles to fit in, not one for machinery but rather crafting pet rocks of her friends and making s'mores by the campfire. While on a quest to save Nike, Sadie Kane mentions that she has a "passenger" in her, revealing that after an attack from Eris, she is the goddess Hestia turned human.
If there is one thing that I know, it’s that I am a demigod.
What does that mean? I’m still figuring it out; but it has been the best thing to have ever happened to me! Sure, big, scary monsters attack you every now and then, but eight months ago I was alone on the streets with no memory, then a satyr found me, and brought me to Camp Half-Blood where I now have a home and a big family! AND I GET COOL FIREY HAND POWERS!!!!!!!!!
People here call me Oikia. My friends call me just Kia! Chiron thinks that I am around 13 years old and that my dad is the God, Hephaestus. He hasn’t visited to tell me that yet, but I just have to keep working at it. Make him proud! And that’s what Camp is for. To make us stronger!
People here say that being a demigod is hard, but there really isn’t anything to fear – the Gods are on your side! They love us! If they didn’t then I wouldn’t have the amazing life that I have. They gave us Camp Half-Blood, they gave me my friends Rory and Fern, yummy s’mores, stars to watch, a fire for warmth, arms to hug with. They gave us this world and our lives, the very least I can do is share a bit of my food with them for it!
If you ever feel like you don’t belong, then I hope that you’re a demigod too! It’s easy to give into that darkness. But there is a light. You do belong! And a family is here waiting for you with wide open arms!
