tbh the people who say "well it's a chinese game so of course the characters are gonna be pale" or "are you seriously getting pressed over an asian video game for not having black/brown characters 💀" are the same type of people to go literally feral and spit vile racist shit when a black or brown person cosplays a "canonically pale/white character" even if the character is very brown or black coded. like these people make fun of other people for calling out blatant racism and whitewashing in popular gacha games and claim that it's not a big deal, but will also lose their shit whenever they see a black or brown person cosplaying a light skinned character. they'll call it "blackwashing" and say that poc shouldn't cosplay white characters but when poc ask for actual diveristy and representation within a game that is inspired by their OWN CULTURES, suddenly that's too much to ask for and poc should just "get over it" or "not play the game if they don't like it". like if genshin impact is seriously going to make a character inspired by an african god WHITE then of fucking course poc are going to be upset. the company can't just say "yeah we were inspired by these west african and indigenous mexican cultures" and then go and whitewash all their characters and then just not expect backlash. and GOD FORBID a black person decides to cosplay a black coded character that was whitewashed in the game. like honestly people of color cannot catch a fucking break.
