         her  nose  crinkles  in  faux  anger  as  she  fights  a  soft  laugh ,  eyes  rolling .  “ happy  new  year  to  you ,  too ,  boy . ”   the  word  is  affection  even  as  she  chuckles .  “ i  can  never  tell  if  you’re  teasing !  i  don’t  know  what  celebrations  you  guys  have  here ...  i’m  still  new  to  this  whole  space  thing . ” a  nod  and  she  chews  nervously  on  her  lower  lip .  “ yeah ...  i  really  do . ”

    Really, Arthur couldn't help the somewhat LOST look on his face as he listened to Sasha's explanation—in and out of understanding, he couldn't help but feel that bubble of FRUSTRATION settling. Still, he knew whatever was happening, it wasn't GOOD and perhaps that's what had cut his fuse so short. However, despite his want to grit his teeth and shake his head, he knew there was no way out of this that HE knew.

    “I ain't even gonna pretend I understood half that...” he muttered, shifting slightly, “If y' could tell me what I can do here, think that'll be better for BOTH 'f us.”

    There was a small TWITCH to his expression--amusement, defeat, it was too quick to tell. Still, he raised his eyebrows some. “Kinda. I’m not tendin’ t’ cattle or raisin’ livestock so it’s not by the meanin’ ‘f the word, but since genius’ such as yourself keep insistin’ then I guess it’s TRUE.”

The words sounded far from sharp and accusing like they would be with most people. Maybe it was because she didn’t care or maybe it was because she didn’t want to put off the one person there that she seemed to be okay with. Humming softly, she peeked over his shoulder to see what he had been in the middle of working on before she had found him.

✦ - Rolling up their sleeves to keep cool, showing off their forearms

Kaia had never claimed that she knew anything about being a mechanic or an engineer. A bit ironic since she never seemed to pick up anything from the people that she knew - But that didn’t stop her from hanging around them. Sat cross-legged on the ground, she was quiet as she watched Sasha work for the most part. There were a few moments where she would make small comments to fill the silence before going back to watch him work. 

She tilted her head and tried to keep track of what he was doing. More focused on what he was working on than the man himself until she glanced up. Watching him roll up his sleeves, Kaia turned her attention to his face instead. (And promptly ignored the warmth that seemed to spread across her cheeks). “So,” she started as she finally rose to her feet to peer closer, “what’re you doing?”
