Fire engine is parked outside the archives. Firefighter is inside doing research on microfilm. This is actually a real scenario! My husband saw a firefighter doing research in the archives. Why would one of the Station 51 guys be doing research in an archive?
Yes! Archival research is wonderful and fun and i wish i had time to do it lol
Obviously, Brice would be in there doing all kinds of research. (I know he’s not 51s, but still...) Brice researches anything and everything, especially when he first comes to LA so he can get the feel of the department and he looks up information on the beginnings of the paramedic program so he knows his history regarding it.
From 51s? I can definitely see Mike in there looking up information on old fires and engines and the like. He loves fire history and the history of the department, so whenever someone has a question, Mike more than probably knows the answer. If he doesn’t, he’s at the library/archives researching it so he can call them up or tell them the next time he sees them. Sometimes he even looks up other departments to see what’s going on in departments like Philadelphia, NYC, and Chicago. (He and Brice can go on for hours, back and forth with everything they know. Marco loves listening in.)
Roy and Johnny went after they got the Old Engine, looking up the old station/engine number and trying to figure out what big events their old girl might have seen. Plus they had to look up old firefighter uniforms and whatnot, so the old photos were very helpful.
I can see Cap going in for some stuff on the beginnings of Station 51, press releases and things like that, so he could make up a little shadow box kind of thing for the station. He’s into history, too, so he’s not always looking up things related to the department or firefighting. He just looks up whatever he feels like when he’s there.
Marco isn’t in there quite so much as the others, only once or twice. He usually goes to help nieces and nephews with homework assignments.
Chet is kind of the same. He doesn’t go there much, usually only with someone else. Sometimes he tries to look up people he was in the army with over in Vietnam, wants to know what happened to them. He doesn’t always like the answers, but that’s why he brings someone with him. He likes to go with Mike and Marco when they go because they look up fun, innocuous things.
