Another English Ari vs Japanese Ari comparison! I’ve mentioned before how I kind of prefer the Japanese design of Ari (aka Ruka) because of how it’s more in-line with the art style of the other main characters, but this particular shot is one of the highlights of the English version. Ari often has a pretty bored look on his face in the English version due to how much they toned down his eyes, so it was nice to see how well they animated his look of slightly embarrassed shock.
(Context to refresh your memory: The chairman was blackmailing Princess Marlene, saying that if she didn’t work for him he would start a rumor that Marlene and Ari had kissed. Marlene tries to trick him by saying that she and Ari are actually in love, much to Ari’s shock.)
