Thinking about modeling a catified!Okapi Titan, but I'm not sure if she'a cart or a beast. Like, she's very beastial, but she also runs on all fours and is pretty fast like a cart. And in my AU, there is no mixing beast with other titan types. You are either a cart, a beast, or rarely- a mutation that forms into a unique breed of titan(Falco). One thought I've had is that maybe she's a proto-cart and the cart came from beast titans?? Hmm....

My take on her in canonverse is that they were a Cart Titan who was transformed into a Pure Titan to eat the previous Cart holder with a Beast Titan’s spinal fluid, thus becoming a Cart with non-human animal traits. Like Falco having a ton of birdlike traits despite canonically being a Jaw Titan because of Zeke’s spinal fluid influencing his Titan form. 

In your AU, I like the idea of her being an in-between, like Falco being an in-between of Jaw and ??? Titans. However, I honestly think it’s more likely that they were a human who was infected by a Cart Titan (since Carts are far more similar to the other breeds than Beasts), but for the same reason Falco ended up super bird-like despite originating from Porco’s Jaw Titan, ended up with some sort of mutation that linked personality to animals which was reflected in the Titan form, resulting in hair covering her body and an okapi-like head. And then their parasite’s descendant parasites produced the Beast Titan breed.

Though, it is still possible for the evolutionary path to go in the other direction- with Carts originating from the rare quadrupedal Beast Titan and evolving a large number of human-like traits for a second time. But generally, irl it’s assumed that the least number of mutations has occurred when building a phylogeny. I assume this is something that Marleyan researchers have had fierce academic battles about lmao

We saw a few quadrupedal Beast Titans during the Battle of Heaven and Earth (like the one based on a domestic dog, though that one was kinda slow and not graceful at all lol) so while it’s been more common in canon history for Beast Titans to be bipedal, they’re also sometimes quadrupedal! In your AU, we could take this to mean that the first Beast Titans were quadrupedal while the population of modern Beast Titans are mainly bipedal after evolution favored Beasts from a lineage that evolved bipedalism in their Titan forms for a second time.

I think it’s worth noting, as arguably her biggest fan, that they have ossicones on her Titan form! And only male okapis have ossicones irl. I’ve made the executive decision that the reason their Titan form has ossicones is because she is nonbinary 😌 and because ossicones are cool as fuck and good for combat

Augh I want to include them more in my fic but Eren is stupid and The Entity is an asshole so she can’t really show up until later 😔 or… wait… what if… 👀😈
