OK Go’s New Music Video Is a Dizzying Kaleidoscope of 60 Mirrors and 29 Robots
Need more favorite outro songs
"Someday soon, you'll look out from your hilltop perch,
Your heart worn out from trying to make sense of the arc,
Which only bends one way,
And you rightly afraid,
It don't seem to be the way that we thought."🍂
Look. When I tell you OkGo is my absolute favorite band, that’s not an opinion, that’s a fact. Not that they’re the best, that they’re my favorite.
My relationship to them and their music is different than any other thing that I call “favorite” and has remained unchanged since I first discovered them with the treadmill video decades ago.
My favorite movie? That will change depending on my mood or what criteria I’m judging by or what I’ve seen recently. My favorite food? Usually it’s one thing, but sometimes it’ll be another depending on cravings or if I’ve over indulged or just my taste changing. Favorite book? I could list five all vying for the top spot. Favorite song? That one is literally seasonal.
But my favorite band is and probably always will be OkGo.
It doesn’t matter if I missed their last release. It doesn’t matter that I haven’t seen them live since college. It doesn’t matter that the last few times their songs came up on shuffle, I skipped them.
When I return to their music, when I sit and listen to the new song, watch the new video, play an old album from song 1, I still get that feeling of wonder and joy that I did when I watched “Here it goes again” in a high school computer lab. It’s not nostalgia. It’s the same feeling. The new music hits the same as the old despite being so different.
No other band does that for me.
You ask me what my favorite band is, I will answer without hesitation every time: OkGo.
