The Sea of Okhotsk is a marginal sea of the western Pacific Ocean. It is bordered by eastern Siberia on the west and north, the Kamchatka Peninsula on the east, the island of Sakhalin to the west, the Kuril Islands on the south-east, and the island of Hokkaidō to the south.  It was named after Okhotsk, the first Russian settlement in the Russian Far East.

Yuzuki Yukari Became “Okhotsk’s Ambassador of Tourism!”

It seems that it’s not uncommon for certain anime or manga (or even other Vocaloid) characters to become ambassadors of tourism in Japan as of recent. Now AH-Software’s Vocaloid Yuzuki Yukari gets her time in the spotlight when she became the ambassador of Okhotsk region in Hokkaido Prefecture, thanks to a collaboration with VOCALOMAKETS! 

During the inauguration event on June 7th, we were given more information on this along with the key visual! 

This beautiful key visual is created by Yukari’s official illustrator Ayakura Juu. The illustration portrays Yukari wearing a lot of warm clothing including a jacket, muffler, and boots; it perfectly shows the nature of Hokkaido, which is well-known for its cold weather and snow. 

This image will be used in many projects to promote tourism in Okhotsk.  

Okhotsk Times featured an article talking about Yukari’s inauguration as ambassador as well as sharing some visuals. VOCALOMAKETS shared a digital version of the article for fans to see (pictured above), and a physical copy can only be purchased through the copy machine at all 7-Eleven stores across Japan (visit this link to learn how to order step-by-step).
