Okeechobee Waterway, mile 80.0, Moore Haven Lock

NTN 20131017 MOORE HAVEN LOCK REVISED OPERATING HOURS 1. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has announced revised operating hours for Moore Haven Lock on the Okeechobee Waterway. The change is scheduled to take effect 19 October 2013. Moore Haven Lock is located at Lat /Long 26-50-23.68 N / 081-05-13.19 W. 2. The new operating hours at Moore Haven Lock & Dam will be 0700 to 1900 seven days per week. Lock openings are restricted on Wednesday and Thursday to 0800, 1000, 1200, 1400, 1600, and 1700.

Manatee Pocket, aid to navigation hazard

The following is from the CG 7th District NTM 38/13. Manatee Pocket Channel Daybeacon 14 (LLNR 50677.8) is destroyed. The remains of the pile are underwater with only the dayboards visible above the waterline. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area.

Lake Okeechobee Water Level

This morning the stage is 14.04 feet providing a navigation depth for Route 1 of 7.98 feet and for Route 2 (Rim) 6.18 feet. As long as the stage is above 12.5 the locks will operate on request.

FL: Okeechobee Waterway, mile 9.5, St Lucie River, shoaling

The Coast Guard has observed significant shoaling in the vicinity of St Lucie River South Fork in the area between St Lucie River South Fork Buoy 30 (LLNR 51090) and the Palm City SR 714 Bridge at mile 9.5 of the Okeechobee waterway. Best water is near the green side of the channel depth as low as 4 feet were found center channel in position 27-10-33.630N/080-15-44.106W. St Lucie River South Fork Buoy 30 (LLNR 51090) has been relocated to position 27-10-42.626N 080-15-48.339W to mark shoaling. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area.

St Lucie River, OWW mile 2.5, temporary nav aid

The following is from the CG 7th District NTM 19/13. The Coast Guard has established St Lucie River Temp Buoy 17A in position 27-11-02.516N/080-11 49.228W. The Buoy marks a shoal that is encroaching the St Lucie River from the west. Mariners are urged to use caution while transiting the area.

Ft. Myers, Caloosahatchee River, OWW mile 129.9, hazard to navigation

The following is from the 7th District CG NTM 01/13. The substructure of an old Railroad line next to the existing Seminole Gulf Railroad line across the Caloosahatchee River is deteriorating and parts have been reported floating in the waterway causing a potential hazard to navigation. Mariners are advised to use extreme caution while transiting the area.

Okeechobee Waterway Locks operating hours change

Effective November 13, 2012 all locks on the waterway operate from 7 am to 7 pm, seven days a week.
