He held her arms. Whatever the Dark Hold had done to her, he had to calm her down, so he wrapped his arms around her back and pressed her tightly.

"Hey, Mel... it's me. I'm here, I got you," when she stopped, he stroked her back, sat down on the floor with her in his arms and swayed them both back and forth. At the moment only May and he were here, even though he knew that this was not true, he pretended to be... for her.

"This reminds me of that rescue mission. The comander really didn't have a withdrawal plan. How long did you swim in that freezing cold water? Five, maybe six hours?" She relaxed against him. "You were so cold that you were lying in my arms just like this, only trembling, with a lot of hot water bottles and a pile of blankets.

"You were nice and warm," she murmured.

"Yes, yes. When you felt better the next morning, you gave the comander a black eye. And, oh, I think you even knocked out a tooth," she giggled softly, which made him relax as well.

She moved closer to him and squeezed him tight.

"At the Academy, I never believed you that Peggy Carter was your SO until she stood in front of you and told you she wasn't going to make it to your graduation," he giggled.

"Yeah, well, you gave me my diploma... Oh God... I couldn't stop laughing. That was so sweet..." she looked up at him, but all her fear was almost gone. He brushed her hair to the side and smiled at her.

"Please don't ever let me go Phill...", she almost begged.

"Have I ever let you go, Melinda?" he asked.

"No. You were the only one who was always there. Always," she leaned against his hand. "I think you are the only person I know who has never run away from me. "Thanks."

"Why would I run away from you? Have you forgotten that I am immune to your scary looks?" they both laughed again.

"I always thought that I had lost everything that was before the coffin, but you were always there. It was only because of you that I got on that bus. And you just walk right into every suicide mission there is. I could have snapped your neck," she said more seriously.

"And in New York, you just died without me inviting you to dinner. Totally unacceptable," they laughed again.

"You and cooking? I remember when I had my first apartment after the academy and I was in the Triskillion when you wanted to cook. You burned down my first kitchen! To this day, I still wonder why you bought an apartment with a kitchen," she continues, almost laughing. "Oh, wait, I know! So I could stand Audrey up and cook for you. Is that the only reason Melinda?" She writhes. "That would be a yes/no question."

"Yes, damn it. I never felt like going to any restaurant that had mediocre and overpriced food while you were there. You should become a cook in this lifetime," she laughed again, while he looked at her in disgust. He tried until he too had to laugh.

"There is only one thing in my life that I have not dared to do since we met. I've wanted to kiss you ever since we graduated, Phill," he smiled at her, while she looked embarrassed to the side.

In a flash he turned her head and put his lips on hers. After a brief startled quikk from her side, she put her hands around his neck and deepened the kiss.

A quick glance to the side told him that the majority of his old team stood there with their mouths open and they watched, which made him smile into the kiss.

So as soon as Melinda was healthy again and he would let go of her, a lot of questions would come up. Great!

He closed his eyes and just held her tight while they kissed.
