So Eli and Kai just finished flying on a dragon, and Adion dropped them off on the roof of Rainbow’s End. Eli was making comments about being able to get into his bedroom window two stories below and Kai was fairly asfjjdsgjh about it. Amaya decided to show off one of her neat tricks.

Amaya let herself down off the roof, and fell for a few feet before coming to a thud on the wall. Pocket Gravity changed the direction gravity was affected, but velocity and other physics were still unaffected. She stood up, now having her feet on the outside wall, facing the sky. It took a moment to readjust to the pocket, but she managed to make it large enough for the rest of them.

“You could try walking on down the wall.” She called to Eli, putting her hands in her pocket. “I think it’s a lot safer than jumping.”

As long as she could keep the magic up, which was easy enough.

"Without screwing up the what now?" When she'd mentioned heart healing, Kai's hand had automatically lifted to his chest before he caught himself and let it fall, deciding he'd be amused about her not wanting to inconvenience them by staying over instead. Much more pleasant.

Especially once Eli latched on again.

"But you wouldn't be! We've both told you! Nobody'll mind at all, and there'll be dessert too, Kai makes really great cookies. Plus I think 'Jem was supposed to have made that raspberry lemon cheesecake-"

"Wait, that was tonight?"

Damn it, of course it was. Kai could've been having the best cheesecake in the multiverse, and instead he'd been out flying on a dragon. What was his life.

"Uh...maybe it was gonna be tomorrow...Amaya, what're you doing?" Eli was leaning over as far as he could get without falling, staring with wide eyes at this new trick. Once the invitation was offered, he scrambled to accept, finding himself standing on the wall itself and, well, not falling to his death. Or at least a few broken bones.

"Kai, Kai, you have to try this, this is so-"

"Cool, yeah, I figured." Shaking his head with a little smile, Kai decided why not and let himself down. Yep, today really had started out ordinary. What had happened?

Amaya might have caught that hand thing from before. She said nothing about it. She made sure that there was enough space within the field of effect for all three of them, though she was far more used to flat surfaces than curved ones.

Amaya wasn’t sure if she ever had cheesecake by the sound of it. It sounded strange. Then again she didn’t know what quite a few things were. 

“I’m still not sure…” Amaya seemed to be avoiding giving a yes or no. “Just stay relatively close to me within the pocket, as if you fall out you’ll start plummeting towards the ground.”

Which is the very thing they were trying to avoid. It was now just a casual walk down to the window, and an explanation of how to get out of the pocket and into the window without hurting themselves…

“Leaving the pocket of the spell is a bit weird… as normal gravity will affect you. You should be able to jump through the window and move around so that your feet hit the floor as gravity changes around.” Amaya explained, thinking everything through her head at the same time. “Might be safer going around near the bottom of the window. If anything happens, Adion will catch you. Or I will, depending on who is faster.”

Now this was the part of the night where no one was going to fall. Amaya had almost forgotten Kai had asked a question earlier, but instead chose to not answer it right now. At least wait until they got inside or until it was brought up again. Probably the latter.

"Awe, but Amayaaaa..."

Kai reached over and whapped Eli in the head before it could turn into a full-fledged whine. "Stop that. If she wants to stay, she will."

Eli apparently realized he was either being childish or annoying (likely both), and nodded. 

"Sorry."

Upon hearing the direction to stay close to her, Kai decided he didn't need to be told twice. Eli, on the other hand, immediately began to wander; at least until Kai's hand shot out and yanked him back.

"I swear you need a keeper."

Eli smirked at him. "But I thought you were it?" 

The yank worked as intended though, and Eli behaved himself the rest of the way to his window, listened intently to the instructions, and jumped in, only to manage to fall on his butt. Kai snickered. Hopefully he'd pull this off without embarrassing himself or needing to be rescued. After a few moments of replaying Eli's graceless entry through his head, he managed, taking a few uncertain steps as his brain reoriented itself. Huh, that was weird.

"My mom knows Gravity, but she never used it for things like that. Just the usual troublemaking."

Or so he figured, anyway. Her reaction when he'd asked as a child if she'd teach him someday had said as much.

Eli had gotten to his feet and was scrambling around the room, scooping up stuffed bug toys and tossing them in his closet. The room had a twin bed against the far wall by the door, a desk next to the window, and shelves on all the walls, filled with either stuffed toys or empty jars. A stack of old notebooks was piled haphazardly on the desk. Kai waved a hand at Eli's attempt to hide his mess.

"No, he never acts his age. He still rescues his toys from Heartless when he thinks no one's looking."

Eli's voice drifted out of the closet, where he was trying to cram a particularly large ladybug between his clothes.

"Shut up! I told you that wasn't what it looked like!"

"Naw, you were just practicing for the next time you can impress Specter. Just kiss her already and get it over with." 

Eli popped out of the closet, absolutely crimson. "Look who's talking!" He ducked back in, mumbling to himself, and Kai coughed, making a point to avoid looking at Amaya. They weren't talking about 'Jem.

"Yeah, so...what about that heart stuff?"

Back from the Dead?

Hey there! 

I know, it’s been ages.  I apologize for my abrupt absence.   With my new job it was hard to handle things.  I’ve also struggled with my health a bit, but I’ve finally gotten back to being healthy and I’m managing my workload, so I think I can finally get back to doing what I love!

Hopefully those of you that I have threads with will see it in your hearts to resume those threads with me, and if not then I hope we can start new things!

I forgot about this ha ha

I don't know if I ever mentioned that 'Jem steals Kai's hoodies in Snapshots canon. I got to thinking earlier that Ronan starts doing it too because 'Jem thought he looked cold one day so she gave him one, and then suddenly Kai can only find like two of his eight hoodies. Some are in the laundry but the others are continually being 'borrowed'.

Kai buys like five more and asks Soren how often Ronan goes through his closet. Um, a lot, Soren says. He made off with his old green coat, after all, and that was way in the back. So Kai grumbles and walks off, leaving Soren confused because what even Kai. Eli's then asked the same thing, and after telling him "Never, why-" Kai shoves the hoodies at him, tells him to stuff them in the back of his closet, and don't touch under penalty of Keyblade. Also for Light's sake don't tell anyone that they exist. But of course the hoodie gnomes find them anyway, and proceed to give two of them to Amaya the next time she visits.

I'm picturing Kai coming home and finding 'Jem and Ro just sitting around the living room in hoodies two sizes too big for them (they're already a size too big on Kai) and just being "...I thought you asked permission before going through other people's things" and 'Jem gives him her sweetest smile followed by, "Not when it's you" because she pretty much treats his room like it's hers anyway.

CRACKVERSE UPDATE: Kai is Riku's son, he hasn't seen his mother in 6 years 'cause Amaya's been off fighting the Taint and looking for other Underseers, the entity of Chaos is masquerading as his grandfather, Kai still has a Keyblade and is going through that bratty 'I know everything, I'm a spoiled only child' phase, and potentially inherited some of his mother's Antumbra abilities.

Ronan is gonna be some poor puppy that Amaya shows up with (not literal puppy) which while having fits at his mother, Kai will immediately adopt because MINE.

Also Sabi's interested in Kai's personality type 'cause he might get a Guardian. Usually Guardians manifest in childhood and Kai's 17 already so.

I have no idea what we're doing.

lol, it's like Riku and Amaya and no the Keyblade's not genetic but hey Kai gets one anyway and then apparently manifests a Guardian too

OKAY THEN

Kai wants a dragon

Bet he gets something cute and fluffy to offset his bullshit

And it's been mentioned already that Kai borrows spellbooks from people off of Destiny Islands

So he's met Eli already and the dork lent him the book that Amy got from Meridian all those years ago.
