A lot of fans of the old shows (and I say this as someone who is mainly a fan of the old shows) need to stop getting immediately condescending and rude to people who genuinely enjoy the new shows and were introduced to the franchise through them, especially when they clearly also expect them to convert to being fans of the old shows. “The shows you enjoy are actually shitty, if you want to be a real fan make sure you watch these other shows which are nothing like the shitty ones you liked” is not exactly a good selling point (obviously it’s not usually phrased literally like that, but that’s the basic sentiment I see) and it sucks seeing new fans get scared away because of that attitude. So I just also want to say to any new fans who found the franchise because of one of the new series: If you want to give the old shows a try too you should because many of the things you love about the new ones actually are very much part of the franchise as a whole! And even if you decide you mostly just enjoy the new series that’s okay, you’re still a real trek fan and please don’t let other people try to push you away from enjoying the things you enjoy! Many of us are still very happy to have you and see new people getting excited about the thing we all love ❤️
