i think the delineation between new trek and old trek is now 9/11. Pre-9/11 star trek was optimistic, there was action but only when the narrative called for it, and it was a look at what we could be if we put capitalism away.

Think people need to understand something about Star Trek.

Continuity errors are bountiful across all of the shows.

I also believe that the fuckass tribbles are still around and haunting the Federation and the Klingons in new trek.

Some dumbass fucked up during a time mix up and now the Klingons have been on a damn hunt for the fluffy little fuckers, powered sheerly just by pure ancestral hatred.

Were the tribbles successfully wiped out at one point in the franchise? Yes. It needs to be done again though, before the tribbles take revenge on the Klingons.

Hate to be that fucking guy™️ but I really hate the new spirk pandering. I really really fucking do. I want it more than most people but the fact it's so forced and insincere just pisses me off more than anything. Like if it's not going to go anywhere don't bother doing it at all especially given how cringe it is it's so unnatural I just really can't stand to look at it I get immense second hand embarrassment. Like no this isn't what we want at all. The Spock chapel romance was less cringe than this please 🤮🤢

The whole point of tos spirk is that the tender care, respect and connection between the characters transcends the medium so much it literally doesn't matter it's set in a camp theatre kids wet daydream of a space ship, there's complete suspension of disbelief. This new stuff is like almost wink wink nudge nudge fourth wall break like no I don't want to fucking Deadpool my spirk thanks I want love so soul crushing it redefines pop culture as it stands

There's a lot of stupid bullshit reasons why people complain about new Trek, but honestly the politics of some of these new shows are not great. We're hundreds of years in the future and people are being incarcerated for trying to steal food. Assimilation into the Federation is still treated like the highest goal people can aspire to. The kids are doing menial labour although the technology exists that *nobody* actually needs to do menial labour ever. We're essentially patronising the Klingons into accepting Starfleet help. This is all pretty fucked up tbh. If 1960s Trek could imagine "no more money" then 2020s Trek should be able to imagine something beyond that.
