My summer project! I made sure to rescue some of my mother’s old furniture. This is a linen cabinet, hand made in 1954 by a mysterious person using the signature “P”. It was a very popular model in Sweden during the 1950′s.
I stripped some of the decor, since it was cracked and broken, and removed two shelves. Otherwise everything is as when it was put together. The outside is painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint - Old White. I decided to use a white primer, for fear that the original lacquer would bleed through. And it did, so I had to paint to coats of Old White before waxing.
The inside was painted with ASCP Aubusson Blue, which turned out beautiful once waxed. I used the clear wax because I haven’t quite come to terms with the idea of painting something white and then making it look dirty (although I have seen people do wonderful things with dark wax). Cheap wallpaper makes the back a bit more of a surprise. All in all - can’t wait to find a proper home for this beauty!
