I recently found and am loosely cleaning up a draft WIP I started in 2010, thriller/suspense style, and it’s surprisingly decent. it’s titled Scarlet against the Snow.
The characters live in a fictional summer tourist trap town in North Michigan (Glacier Loch). The story has mystery aspects and a murderous cryptid. A newly-arrived reporter from Chicago, who seems to be hiding from something, gets kidnapped.
Jake is a private investigator in said town and if he has one more person insist that the Abominable Snowman ate their pet “will you please investigate” he will Die. Mostly he investigates thefts, sometimes property disputes, the missing person, or things the police don't or won't handle. His sister Sky is the town's only veterinarian.
While not from Glacier Loch, they’re still from Michigan and have lived there for years. They are also exceptionally disaster characters. And I’m pretty sure the first characters I wrote intentionally queer.
