What’s the best way to go about applying to be a character? Any specifics?
okay so here’s how it’ll go down in two slightly different ways
you’ll go through the first round application for the DCP and there’s a section that asks what interest level you have for different roles (merch, attractions, food service, entertainment, etc etc). you answer each one, obviously saying you have a high interest in entertainment
IF you’re only interested in full time work and not doing the DCP, you don’t do all this, you just go to an audition
you’ll go through the rest of the application process and hopefully make it to the phone interview where they typically ask what three roles you’re most interested in. my guy made sure i knew when the entertainment audition was in my city so i could be sure to go to it
now, somewhere either on the disney auditions page or the DCP page, there’ll be an audition schedule. this is around the time of year they have cross country auditions. normally they stick to orlando and anaheim and one or two other cities in the US but since this is when new DCP apps open, they travel around. you have to see when theyre coming to a city near you and go. at the audition, they’ll ask if you’re a DCP applicant or just interested in full time work. the audition is super fun and i loved it.
i had already finished my interview process and been accepted and offered a role by the time i went to my audition in january 2014. that’s totally fine, because if you pass the audition and they offer you a new role. if you don’t, you keep your current offer. you don’t have to do an audition before you finish your application! they can go in either order
this is the best time to try and audition for full-time work if distance is a concern, because like i said, they travel to a lot of major cities and you don’t have to be sad that orlando is sooo far away from you
that’s pretty much how it went down for me, i hope this made sense!
